baby's first bauble

All the negativity!! Geeezzzz

The dude wants to buy a kid a present that he/she can keep and will hopefully have in years to come. Give him some advice. If you can't give him advice then go an up your post count somewhere else.

OP- try a garden centre with a big christmas section.

Hear hear, far too many unhelpful posts on many topics on this forum.

The reason they're all tacky is because "babys first baubles" are tacky...

If ***** supplies are out try ChavBargains.com

Shame you didn't read this pitchfork, if you have nothing to offer don't post. Just because you find it "tacky" doesn't mean everyone else will.

Unless you a trying to be an ass.

As babies don't weigh much, or do much for that matter, actually they get benefits (child allowance) for doing nothing so why is no one protesting their state funded laziness?, why not make him/her into a bauble and hang him/her from the tree? It'd be like a bouncy cradle thing and I'm sure they'd enjoy bouncing around next to tinsel.

If his opinion hurts you, why respond.
You're obviously into this tacky **** otherwise you wouldn't get all huffy.

Yes I am into this "tacky ****" as you so eloquently put it.

I don't mind that other people don't like it or find it tacky, but why the need to respond to the thread if that is your views? OP wasn't asking what peoples opinions were, only to find where sold them.

And why start putting things like Chav bargins and ***** supplies?

It is childish and frankly not needed, I know this is GD but that doesn't automatically give you the right to be a ****.

Not on the high street has some nice ones.

Ignore the idiots in this thread....I like this sort of thing, don't think it's tacky, it's quite sweet. Nothing wrong with little mementos and things.

Make the decision with parents. A bauble is quite 'visible' so make sure it's in-line with what they'd like

GD and Overclockers has been getting a little toxic over the past year or so. Mods need to get some of the idiots in check to be honest.

Please don't give these things out. We were given one and now the gf insists on having it on the tree, which just makes it look **** and tacky. For the love of God, why would you impose this on a perfectly respectable Christmas tree?

For parents to by it themselves, that's fine. It just annoys me that they would be considered a gift - thanks, I spent quite a bit of money and time making my tree look nice, and now I've got to put some £1.99 tat on it. Cheers!

Like I said, involve the parents in this as it's something visible.

PS I think you value your christmas tree a little too much...newsflash..no one else cares :D

Never heard of a baby's first bauble but there does seem to be plenty online. If you're having trouble choosing maybe consider bauble earrings? If you got adult size ones they could be worn every year. If they're too heavy for a baby you could support them with tape over the head or put some padding on its shoulders for them to rest on.

In our family every family member has to have a personal bauble on the tree. This year I got a small felt fox from a local Christmas Market. Something like that is very easy to personalise and is a bit more robust than glass.

There is supposed to be a fine line between Overclockers and Mumsnet,

Now I discover that all along some of you men have been secretly buying baby baubles!
I feel dirty and abused after reading this thread.

Haha...mumsnet get's brought up a lot here and I can genuinely say I've no idea what it is!

What age are we living in where a man can't buy his child something cute/sweet? I bet you don't wear pink either you savages :D

Is this a new chav trend?

I don't think so, I am not a "chav" and niether are my parents, they are simply people who decided that a momento for our childrens first chirstmas would be something nice that we will cherish.

And it is.

I see no reason this is now regarded as "chav".
