Only in France

France driving standards used to be awful, however there has been a hard push to improve driving standards, and reduce road deaths, and it has worked, the number of road deaths over the last 10 years has been dramatically reduced.

They now drive much better than the UK do!
After being there for 10 years and complaining at their rubbish efforts behind the wheel, came back to the UK only to find that it's much worse than it ever was in france. What the hell happened back here to make it so bad??

The only things the french do that I think are dangerous in cars are, overtaking on blind corners and tailgating everything.
They don't speed too much, they don't "hang you out to die" if someone is overtaking a line of traffic and something comes the other way. They don't middle lane moron their way down 3 lane roads.

Because speed cameras aren't a deterrent. They are a way of making money.

Anecdotally, the A9 would disagree with you. Since the average speed cameras went online, there seems to be a lot less pillockry going on.

Gatso's are generally a waste of space. Average speed cameras and gantry cameras for variable speed limits do have an impact.

Eastern Europe!

but I'd far rather be stopped by a police officer that is patrolling keeping an eye on behaviour of driving, and people using mobile phones etc... and be able to make a discretionary decision on the quality of the driving.
It might be like that if they didn't have a quota to fill every week.

You forgot all the drink driving though....

1 to 2 hour lunches in a bar...then back to work. This goes from roadwork crews to bankers.

They don't get caught as all the police seem to go on break together......
