Glad you're ok. I'd report that to the police if I were you. Tempting to report it to his insurers as well. Get the bike checked by a decent shop, get a quote for repairs, get your clothes factored in. I wouldn't hold back in getting it all paid for.
I agree with Von's advice. Don't be tempted to just let it go or give him any leeway as it could come back and bite you later.
Yeah reported on 101 so I'm all covered, haven't spoken to him yet this evening but taken my bike to a good LBS, they'll look at it tomorrow and let me know the quote (asked them to also cover a £50 helmet as mine is now cracked - I have a new one I was bought from there for £50 I haven't worn yet). None of my clothing appears damaged other than scuffs which I'm prepared to live with (have some already!).
I'll give him a few options - pay directly to bikeshop, pay me or if he wants to go through his insurance that's fine too. I've asked the shop to look closely at both wheels and derailer (as at least 1 wheel is buckled/twisted) - the derailer also has some heavy scuffing. Hopefully when they sort it my tricky gearing problems (Halfords could never sort from new) will be gone too!
Yesterday's session was Goddard and had a few one legged drills which confirmed my suspicion that my left leg and glute are weak vs the right. Again I was gasping by half way through trying to maintain the advised levels of power. Then I twigged. Maybe I had put more tension into the tyre/roller interface when I repositioned the bike. Sure enough a half turn anticlockwise made things a lot easier and this was probably more reflective of when I did the FTP and ended up with 314W. Needless to say I have now manually tweaked the FTP down a little so Sweetspot is not quite so ballsouts
Anyway there lies a lesson. Having said that I am quite liking TR and reckon it will go someway to arresting the winter decline that is quite alarming in its rapidity.
I've yet to start TR, have been meaning to for a few weeks as the 'Sufferfest Shine' has worn off for me (Watched the few I have 2 or 3 times and now bored of them lol).
I had a similar issue as you, my only 'long distance' ride was on an improperly tightened trainer so I found it really easy in top gears! Tart's advice is best below, although I only tighten my Road Machine 2 turns after trainer is touching wheel, 3 turns gives me a massive bulge - 2x bigger than a road bulge!
I did the same the first time I did an FTP test/used TR. I now use OMS's suggested method - tighten it so the wheel is just touching and then tighten it three complete turns.
Just out of curiosity
in this freezing weather and frosty morning or evenings
Do you guys wear a base layer and/or jacket?
Just curious because I don't have either of these, I just wear jerseys
These temps between -2 and 2 degrees I wear DHB thermal bibs, tops and a jacket along with some running shorts over my bibs for some extra bum/thigh-warmth. I wear skullcap, gaiter/snood, thermal gloves, and overshoes on any temps lower than 4. If there's a strong windchill or temps lower than -2 I'll also wear a headband, rain/wind cover on helmet and extra baselayer (only done that once so far this winter and overheated).
If it gets any colder than that (say -4 or -2 with additional wind-chill) I'd go to scarf, thermal socks and probably a thicker jacket! If we get the 'long cold winter' that some say is forecast I'm prepared to get some arm and leg warmers too!
