Need some quick advice, selling something and only have it as collection only, but one person is offering to arrange his own courier to pick up the items, never dealt with something like this so wondering if its safe to proceed? the items are around £100 so dont want to get mugged!

Cheers :(

If you're going to send it, arrange your own courier rather than letting them do it, then you have the contract with the delivery company and will also have access to the proof that the package has been delivered and received.

Just stipulate its Paypal for items that are able to be sent and Cash only for collection. Otherwise scumbags often buy something, pay with paypal, then collect and then claim that they have never received the item. Paypal/ebay will side with them unless you have unequivocal proof and even then it will be a bind to get your money back. A friend of mine had someone come and pick up an amp from him and he even had cctv of the bloke. The scumbag maintained that he went, it was not what he wanted, and he left. Even though they had video of him walking out with a box they still sided with the buyer and said it could have been anything in the box. My mate lost £160...

OK I see, is there a way to remove PayPal as payment option then so it would only be cash?

Thanks

Cheers y'all.

For collection item I always do cash only too for the very reasons mentioned.

Anyway going to reject the guys request, which is annoying as would have been nice to shift this on!

I've done this loads of times as a buyer - paid by paypal most of the time too…
done it a couple of times as a seller - never had an issue

it's the downside of living in the middle of nowhere!

My suggestion please check beforehand in his courier services. whether it is reliable or not.

Yep cheers man, I've messaged him to find out what courier he wants to use as I couldn't find any big mainstream ones that will ship these items as they are on restricted items list.
