Any suggestions? I haven't overclocked before but I want to. I'm planning to up the clock speed a little more and was just wondering what you guys thought of.

I've heard critical acclaim for the Hyper 212 but the look of it isn't too great, I love the look of the AIO coolers. If Hyper 212 is the way to go, then so be it!

My aim is for it to be as quiet as possible for the price performance ratio :p

Hit me with your ideas!

212 used to be a good cooler for the money, but now there are several better coolers for same or less money. Raijintek sell some. Alpenfohn Matterhorn Pure, Macho rev.A & B, and 3 TRUE Spirit 140 models are all coolers only a little more money and much better.

But without knowing what your system is (case, motherboard and RAM) makes it hard to make suggestions that will fit and work.

Price / performance a good cheap air cooler will win out all day erry day.

Performance to me is also sound. Air coolers still win?

Asus VII Ranger (Sexy board, I love it)
HAF 932 Case (its a beastly big case. Looking to change it, it's worn, cracked feet, cracked front, missing a fan)
4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (Once again looking to change)

Air coolers are much quieter than CLC at same temp. CLC are 4-8 times as loud

HAF 932 has 172mm clearance according to CM website so any cooler should fit height wise.

Wide coolers will block our top x1 PCIe socket, but x16 sociket should be no problem.
TRUE Spirit 140 Power is very good and about 35 quid. New Macho rev.B and TRUE Spirit 140 rev.A have similar cooling but are not available here yet. They are in EU, just not here.

Megahalems are good coolers, but we need to factor in the cost of fan too as cooler does not come with one.

Is your case windowed? If so I have one of those large Be Quiet! Dark Rock 2 air coolers and it looks bad ass. I actually prefer the look of that to water coolers in my R4. It is pretty much the equivalent to famous Noctua NH-D14 heatsink just 1'000x better looking

It's got a top half window, the cooler looks a bit plain but if it performs I'll look into it. Thanks :D

be quiet! coolers are a little warmer than others, but run very quiet. It's a trade-off .. sacrifice a little cooler to have less noise.

Honestly I know of nothing better than TRUE Spirit 140 Power. It is within 2-3c of the very best, and if you want even more cooling ability add a couple of TY-143 fans (one on cooler and on to exhaust it's heated exhaust from case) and TS140P is 8c cooler .. and still less the 50 quid.

Here's a test showing TRUE Spirit Power, NH-D14 & TRUE Copper with TY-143 fan/fans. TRUE Spirit 140 Power wins in all combinations except 840rpm by a couple of degrees!

Hmmm, looked some more at your recommendations. I'm really loving the Macho Rev B appearance with the black heat sink. Just can't find it anywhere to get a price point.

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, very unfamiliar with different coolers and trying to get a feel for things. How does the Themis compare to some of your recommendations? I realise it's half the price so surely there must be a hefty difference.

As far as I know they are only in Germany at the moment. With Xmas rush it will probably be early next year before they arrive here.

The new Macho rev.B and TRUE Spirit 140 rev.A have a new version of TY-147 with a new PWM signal to RPM ratio .. The TY-147 A will idle down to 300rpm compared to 500-550rpm for older TY-147.. which is a black and white version of TY-140.

Yeah, I think I'll end up waiting for the Macho.

Shame it doesn't look a bit more black but I really do like the appearance. Would the fan on it be WORTH replacing in the future or do they run as needed?

I'm very impressed with this black nickel plating. But just the black top fin on other Thermalright coolers looks very nice.

The Macho Zero and Macho Rev.B are same cooler. Zero has no fan and uses ducting from back of cooler to rear exhaust fan for airflow through cooler. Rev.B uses TY-147 A fan. I got the TY-147-A fan on my TRUE Spirit 140 rev.A.

Did you notice the black nickel on the fan clips? :D
Even the mount is black nickel plated.

Sounds like someone has a fetish for black Nickel! 90% sure I'm going to go for this, going to stop hunting now and just wait for OCUK to stock it! :D

Are all Macho Rev B's black nickel plated?

Well, I am partial to black components.

Yes, all Macho Rev.B are black nickel.

Honestly, I can't decide which way i prefer using the Macho Rev.B; with duct or with fan.

Haven't tried using both yet.:D

Not sure I trust myself to delid my processor D: Looks sexy though!

EDIT: Just realised out of budget and comes with no fans :C

Going to stick with the fan, ducts look so ugly to me :(
