My Sanyo PLZ Z3000 developed a fan fault after 5 years and is switching itself off by design.

Anyone know great place in UK to get Sanyo projector serviced....
Dust cleaned out, fans replaced...got the service manual..but someone experienced should be much quicker and safer to service..but dont want to spend £300 as some are asking for 1-2 hrs work and £25 worth of fans.....

in the mean time got a Epson TW3200...£830
ceiling mountable, lens shift capable (at a low price point), low (1800) lumens, lower heat, lowish noise (23/28 db) and higher bulb longevity 4000hrs (room is pitch black).
25000 rather than Sanyo 65000 contrast is a bit of a concern...but i am hoping suspecting that this is marketting tosh...time will tell.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump from the frying pan in to the fire just yet. The budget Epsons may look good on paper, but the real world performance isn't as spectacular.

There are some of us that can do things at a lower cost than the official channels but it's never going to be as cheap as DIY. So if you want a low cost solution then you probably have to weigh up the risk versus the cost saving.

well i will report back next week..interesting to see if there is much in it one way or tother..having used the plvz3000 and pana ae4000 regularly it should be very apparent if it has any shortcomings..

Outfit i bought projector from will service at cost £65+parts at cost and only a hrs drive away...
will definitely get the old one fixed as a spare if the 3200 is good..or send 3200 back otherwise.

well ill definitely be getting the plv z3000 fixed...it is a better projector.

the projector seems to stuggle to keep up with the picture...the resolution seems lower (although it isnt) and fast moving seems are not so effortlesss to appreciate the quality/detail..

fine as backup projector but not as good. even more pleased with my plv z3000 now..i hope i can get it mended.

still £830 seems like a good price point for an entry level, ceiling mountable lens shiftable projector. oh and it is noiser but quieter than a movie once playing.

really so much better...i dont know how a consumer is expected to discern value for money if it is.
on paper....The good
ceiling mountable, vertical lens shift (missed this when i checked specs)..much cheaper
The Not so good..
...DLP...33 Dba Fan...10,000:1 contrast...less lamp life quoted..
the ugly
built in speakers...3D capable....uurrgh

if its got a better picture then it sounds good..but too late for me and on paper id never have guessed it..

The picture will be streets ahead!

Expect a much brighter 3D type image with much more sharpness. Forget the speakers!! there just a gimmick know one uses them.

Other projectors to consider HD30, HD50.

I have had them all as am a DLP nut!! If it was me I would go for the W1070. beautiful image and if you add a Darbee is sharpens it even more!!

I have seen your projector, its not in the same league as the Benq..

No its not!! What you on about!! I think 1 in like a 100 people see it. It has a fast colour wheel, like the mice in your head :)

I have seen the Lcd effect which is a unsharp image with a game of Russian roulette trying to get good convergence

You would be a fool to invest anymore money into that Sanyo

Where did you pull that 'fact' from? I'd say the number of people with 'working eyes' is far higher judging by the volume of users on forums like AVF that hate the effects of single chip DLP.

LCD has its drawbacks for sure but at least the screen doesn't look like a unicorn fart and besides many of the manufacturers have switched to LCOS technology now.

I have a Benq W1070 and I have not noticed any 'rainbow effect'. All I have noticed is a fantastic 1080p image which handles fast motion very well. It does suffer a little with blacks/shadows but then I probably could set it up better to improve the image.

well watched a film...when not looking out for quality..you would be hard pushed to tell the difference, fan noise (eco mode rated 23db) is fine too (perhaps a tad louder than sanyo but you cant tell during gaming/films) .....puts out less heat...
would have been interested to try w1070 but i suspect 33 Db would have been too loud for me during non loud media use.
