This morning I changed the order for my next Insignia from a 2.0 cdti 140PS to a 1.6 Turbo SIDI (spark ignition, direct injection) 170PS. I dont know anyone who has driven one so I'm going to try it out.

The downside is that it will cost me around £80 a month more in fuel!

The XF isn't a credible rival to any of the cars I've listed, it's a hangover from the previous generation and badly needs replacement. It's a good choice in the sub £15k market (Where it competes with E60's and old shape A6) but of course those will be earlier cars without the 3.0 V6SC Petrol.

Ah I thought you were talking more about the availability of cars with a decent petrol variant within a certain class of car. Hopefully the new XF will be out next year

So throttle off? Are you suggesting trucks have driven 3mm off the bumper of the vehicle in front because otherwise other traffic might change lanes?

No, I'm saying it's not the truckers who are the problem, it's usually the poor standard driving by those around them.

Lifting off and making allowances for the non drivers around you is part & parcel of my profession.

I spend most of my day lifting off, time after time, because some numb nuts has decided the nice gap I have in between me and the vehicle in front is just the place for their vehicle.

If you were to spend a bit of time in an HGV as a passenger, you'd very quickly see exactly what I mean.

Anyway, a two trailer length gap (ballpark 26 metres) wouldn't save you in an emergency stop situation @44tons!

Ahhh the view from the otherside of the fence sounds soooo much greener...

tbh it doesnt matter if you drive a car or a lorry, theres always some badger that feels pulling into your braking area is acceptable and that you have made a space just for them because you're a nice person.

Still holding onto double wishbone front suspension though. Just shame about the screen resolution on a design led vehicle range I guess.

Nothing wrong with the 4.2 in the SV8 anyway.
