X79 is it worth getting now?

I have 3x290's running @ 4k but think I'm being held back in gaming with my 4770k @4.5 is it worth gettin x79 as I don't want to fork out for ddr4 at the moment, is there much difference between x79 and x99.

Price is much cheaper on the x79 platform, especially second hand.
Theres little difference between the two tbh - I'm still rocking on x79 and see no need what so ever to upgrade to x99. Little performance difference in anything other than benchmarks

Hammer hit nail - generally would agree with this. Especially as you could potentially pick up some second hand bargains.

X79 is a well established stable and powerful platform. Yes its still worth getting for sure.

Depends, most probably yes with 3x 290s, however do not go for the 4820k as that is again 4 cores/8 threads and is slower than your 4770k! Look at the 5930k or above
