Hi all. Can anyone help me with a pc.

Im after one that will run theses old games.
Rome total war and all addons. The 1st rome.
X3 the reunion and all addons.
Sim city 4.

Ideally I would want it on fiance. As thats all I could aford.

also would it run off my tv? Or do I need a monitor aswell.

All help would be greatfull

I know you're looking at finance options but what would you say is a reasonable price you can afford?.

I assume you want this as a prebuild system?.

You can connect it to you TV yes, depending on the connections it has. Does it have DVI, HDMI ect.

I'm from the Netherlands where buying any credit always comes with the label 'Borrowing money costs money'. I think this is a good message to keep in mind.

£25 a month would allow for a fairly decent budget, around £750 as per the example on the finance page:

Low cost classic finance 36 Months

36 equal monthly payments at 16.9 % APR.

Representative APR 16.9%
Order Value (Inc. delivery & VAT) £750.00
Deposit (10%) £75.00
Balance Payable £675.00
36 monthly repayments of £23.64
Total Amount Payable £926.04

However, as you can see you'll pay £176 more than when paid upfront, so I'd suggest going for as little as would do the job to minimize interest payments.

The difference in monthly repayments can be put in a pot towards upgrade/replacement at the end, so I wouldn't see it as hardship to go low spec!

Simcity 4 has very basic requirements, so an AMD APU build as suggested in this £350 build thread would do?

Im not too intrested in upgrading the pc. I wouldnt know how. But I would have to say 25 pounds would be my limit.

Ive got over bills to pay :-(

But to run rome total war would be low spec? The highest spec is the x3 games?

I'm not sure finance has any influence on warranty, so individual items each have their own warrenty.

Do you need the system build for you, or can you ask friends for help? It is not rocket science, but not everybody feels comfortable to do it. OCUK can build anything for you, and I have seen £60 as an indication. They can quote you in the customer service section.

OCUK build 'off the shelf' AMD APU system, build for you and 3 years warranty, with some sensible options upgraded. I assumed you need Windows, so subtract £77 if you already have a suitable copy.

YOUR BASKET
1 x "Primo Pro AX" Configurable AMD A Series APU Office PC £108.00
- 1 x Networking Not Selected £0.00
- 1 x NO OPTICAL DRIVE INSTALLED £0.00
- 1 x No Second Hard Drive Option (ZERO Cost) £0.00
- 1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £64.99
- 1 x Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Gold (HX318C9BGK2/8-OC) £67.99
- 1 x AMD A8-6600K 3.90GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Quad Core Processor (AD660KWOHLBOX) £73.99
- 1 x ESET Smart Security - Trial Key £0.00
- 1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £77.99
- 1 x OcUK Standard System Warranty - 3 Year (24 Month C&R + 12 Month Labour) £0.00
- 1 x Standard Build Systems - Dispatched within 7 working days £0.00
Total : £411.56 (includes shipping : £15.50).

With a small budget on finance it is probably best to spend a few weeks doing some research as you really need to get it right the first time. Might be best to give them a call in this situation.

Maybe im out of my league. My friends dont lnow about pcs.

If I got one that would run them games smooth as butter that be grand.

Id need it built. And a os system. Ive no need to upgrade it. And I can aford 25 a month.

I really dont know what to get. But fiance is the only option dor me.

Is it a thing to get a build with them games already on it?

That PC above will cost around £12.50 on 36 month finance which is ideal really, for the type of games you're playing, no need to spend anymore what so ever.

As said above, maybe giving them a call (or a visit) (OCUK that is) may help you. Set yourself an overall £500 budget to ensure it comes with an affordable financeoption.

You can't get a PC with games already loaded onto it? YOu willneed to fork out for the games seperatly too, bare that in mind (though they'll be super cheap by now).

Cool, but. I hear new OS systems have problems playing old games. Could that be a problem for the games i mentioned?

Also whats the best way to get hold of them? I hate phoning places.

Silly question but can that spec run X3 and its addons nicely?

Also would it run civilization 4? ?

Thanks for your help everyone

The APU above is good, but it's using slow RAM and a slow motherboard meaning APU performance is going to be hindered a lot.

Ideally with an APU system you want a A88X board with 2133-2400mhz RAM.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Kaveri 7700K 10 Compute Core APU w/ Radeon R7 Graphics (4 CPU + 6 GPU Compute Cores) - Retail £109.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £77.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV "Frost Edition" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit £65.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £43.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2 AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £39.95
1 x EVGA 500W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0500-KR) £38.99
1 x Raijintek Arcadia Mid Tower USB 3.0 Case - Black £24.95
0 x Silverstone 120mm Fan 1200RPM White LED Fan £4.98
Total : £416.42 (includes shipping : £8.00).

OCUK will build this for you if you ask for £50-60, then ask for finance and away you go.

Is that able to play all the games I mentioned? Would it also play civ 4??

Yes it will play those games. Try gog.com for the older games, they pretty much all run on the latest OS.
I would question whether you need 8gb of RAM though. 4gb should be plenty until you Wang to play the latest games and then the gfx card may restrict you.

Will that pc run of my tv? Its hdmi. Also have wireless internet. What wud I need to pick that up? Thanls

I also need to order this. Because this site dont work on my phone or ps4.

2GB would even run the listed games, but as the machine needs to do its thing for 3 years, i wouldn't feel comfortable recommending just 4GB.

The extra outlay for the system as specced by ThaReaperGuy again improves on keeping it usable for 3 years, as he'll still be paying for this machine by then!

Keep it useable? Would it break after awhile?
