Buy a mining laser, a refinery, then find an asteroid belt and blast away. Pick up enough fragments for your refinery to combine in to individual tonnes of resource, then go and sell.

As far as I know it isn't all that profitable at the moment, gotta just hope for palladium or another expensive metal. Go to metallic asteroid belts, not ice ones. I think you can also mine planetary rings... Not sure though.

More work on the CP-1. This has been dry assembled and some front pads made for the seat and I've put another layer of thick foam in the main seat panel:

I'd previously fitted the mesh and aluminium bars to the sides:

Ok starting to get the hang of this... but how does one know what are the prices in other systems and what they may have in stock? Seems to be a bit of "guess" atm.

In the commodities market you can click up where it says "Galactic Average" and see what systems want what. I'm not sure if it's particularly accurate at the moment but it's the best you can do outside of checking the coloured lines on the galaxy map or recording the figures yourself by going there first!

:Edit: Servers going down for another update.

How feature complete is Tuesdays release going to be?

Are there certain features that have been missing from beta that will be in release 1 on Tuesday?

I doubt there will be major features released Tuesday as they will not have been tested. At the mo it seems to be last minute bug fixing and tuning/polishing. Will skip playing tonight and wait for the economy fix tomorrow.

Cheers bud. I guessed there maybe some element of this, but wanted to double check.

But how often are prices fluctuating in systems?

General comments about the game and Tuesday...
Ok there is no questioning the atmosphere in this game rocks.

But the content I feel is a little... not thin.... but.. just a bit soul-less?

I too find a lot of it pretty soulless - that's a good word to describe it I think. For me, better player-player interaction and involvement in meaningful changes within the galaxy will fix this. I expect as I get further over to more occupied space and more importantly the Federation/Empire divide, things will be more interesting, especially with the "story" kicking off upon release.

As for prices fluctuating, I have not much of a clue as I haven't turned any real profit from trading ever :p

How did you generate cash in the game (assuming you did :p)?

90% of me wants to play this game and give it the full benefit of the doubt on release...

10% of me wants to drop this game and play some GTA5 on the PS4.

I only have about 350k credits worth of stuff at the moment, did the missions available around Chemaku and got a Hauler before realising I wanted some combat so took my Eagle out and went over to Miki (near two anarchy systems which can be fun for bounties and also near Begbie who wanted to touch me). Saved up enough for a Viper, did some more bounty hunting + selling the cargo some of the ships left behind. Got a bit bored of this area so swapped the Viper out for a 27LY jump range Hauler, now on way over to busy space to get involved in real stuff. It was depressing looking at the "Traffic Report" and seeing that only 1 ship had passed through in the past 24hrs... as in me. Even Chemaku which is relatively quiet has 5000+ on the traffic report!

Saw another Commander in game today for the first time in a week, got very excited about interdicting them and getting in a brawl before I realised I A) am in a Hauler and B) it has no interdictor or even weapons :o

:Edit: Update is finished, servers back up.

The idea is that when your ship is destroyed there is an escape pod that you automatically eject in, and it takes it back to the last station you entered. Ship insurance is automatic, and if you have enough credits you can buy back your ship and all the modules. If you don't have enough money you either opt to buy back less modules, or if you really don't have enough money at all... then yes you have lost your ship and all the credits tied up in it. The moral of the story is - keep enough credits in your balance for your insurance cost no matter what!

I also think that the insurance amount changes on how many times you claim against it. Mine is very low but then I've never claimed :-)
