Which job? Difficult decision.

You'd be mad to do option 1. If they're lowballing on offer and won't even make up 2k then it'd suggest to me a terrible place for development.

This, its very clear that any progression won't really make up the gap if they can't even budge on the wage now. Also its always a bit dodgy when someone really tries to oversell you on joining and is a bit pushy, never leads to anything great.

The first job itself is Autotrader UK. I think I will likely take the pay cut and see what it brings, depending on tomorrow's outcome.

The money is really not an issue in real terms it is 6k after tax. I can make it up in other ways, my worry is rather taking a step backwards in my career. I like to learn, drive myself hard and I think the other opportunity will throw me into the deep end which it seems a shame to miss...

eh? so why take a step backwards then - what you've posted makes no sense, you've outlined what you want to do and yet are taking the opposite decision?

Like minded people, working environment, location, potential for growth.

Considering how gruelling the interview was, it seems they really want the right people to work there. I moved to where I am to be part of a city, to reduce my commute and enjoy my life. My girlfriend will shortly be only a walk away from work.

Should option B have not reared its head it would have been an absolute no brainer. Which is why I am thinking of choosing the lesser paid job. If I'm as good as I believe I am then it won't take long to make up lost ground... we shall see.

Option C was a no goer I screwed up the interview.

I took the higher paid role with the commute ( Option B ). I got an earful from the recruiter about declining the role, this honestly was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. I hope I do not regret it later... :'(

Why are you jumping at lower paid jobs? I know its a bit late now, but option C was not "that job", it was looking for another job.

I wasn't jumping at lower paid jobs. This particular opportunity was at a good company with lots of potential for future growth the recruiter also pushed me quite hard to go for it. The killer blow for me was there was an 18 month barrier before they would do any sort of review.

The option I chose have basically said after 6 months and doing the training and proving myself they will provide a review. So not only were they starting out on a higher salary but they are happy to consider raising it in the short term future. I will have a commute which I honestly would rather not have, but I need to think what this sort of environment will do for my skill level and career in general.

I am extremely unhappy in my current role, I have to change it rather than lose on a missed opportunity.
