Dsr runs on older Nvidia cards now ??

Wrong, runs on Kepler too, as my 670 will testify. ;)

Nice - didn't realise. According the nVidia site it says 970/980 though!

"Nvidia just released a new GeForce driver: 344.48 WHQL. On top of adding support for new games like Civilization: Beyond Earth, this new driver enables Nvidia’s*Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) technology on Nvidia GeForce GTX 500, 600 and 700 series desktop graphics cards."

Didn't realise it also works on 5 series as well.

I have a £4000 1080p best ever released plasma panel. Wondering with Dsr would it be better than a 4K monitor.

I have 970 sli

Wouldn't say better but it does a surprisingly convincing job of mimicking 4K in some games so definitely worth having a play if you have the GPU power. (More so at 1440p than 1080 though)

Yea but we are talking about graphic cards with 1GB, 1.25GB/1.5GB of vram...not really sure if anyone want to push the res beyond 1920 on DSR...though I guess it's good news for people who still holding onto pair of EVGA GTX570 2.5GB or GTX580 3GB in SLI :p

All depends on the game. You can't apply an arbitrary limit to the amount of VRAM which is acceptable.

For example, I just tried WoW at '4K' on my measly 2GB 760 and performance was fine. Pretty good all things considered. You also don't have to apply 4x resolution. Downscaling from 2560x1440 could still look pretty nice and not require much more memory if you have the processing power to drive it.

just tried it on my 780ti ghz edition with a 30" dell 2560 x 1600 monitor, and it works, it lets me select 3620 x 2263 and 5120 x 3200, tried it on borderlands the pre sequel, it works it looks good, fps was around 57 fps for the 3620 x 2263, and around 31 fps for the 5120 x 3200 which was surprisingly smooth for 30 fps, not sure id like to use it on more demanding games though.

just tried on cs go, at 5120 x 3200 and still get over 100 fps, so very nice for less demanding games.
