The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Eves new development schedule is really refreshing, we're seeing regular bold new content, every week we've got something new to play with on SiSi and some new teaser to get excited about.

It seems CCP has finally had the balls to change some big things and stick to their guns.

The game feels very healthy and vibrant and it appears as though there is a lot of good content happening.

We've not noticed any real huge hurdles as a small group due to the jump changes making logistics harder. Sure we need an extra mid or two here or there but thats not the end of the world.

Fights are happening where small groups of caps are used to have a nice little fun fight without super drops.

The big fight the other night showed BL move supers a vast distance to get in on a fight taking roughly an hour and a half to get there. Short enough that they're able to get in and have a fight if needed, but not so long as to give everyone else no chance to avoid a random mega dunk.

new map looks the shizz too.

Im also actually excited about the lore teasers we've been getting. Weird haha.

Yes, I remember when Incarna came out and the only real change was "Walking in Stations". Lots of extra features coming thick and fast - and in the main well thought out to.

I've been away from home for most of the year and haven't had the chance to get online much so can't wait to get back in as the changes look good as does the direction CCP are taking.

I always look at Eve as one of my biggest missed opportunitys in online gaming. I never had the patience or the persistance required to get into the game properly. Think the last time I played it was 5 or 6 years back now, had just gotten my carrier (although didnt have a clue what I was doing)

Every time I see the trailers I'm always tempted to get back involved, however its been so long I can't even remember my account details or even if I gave my characters away, sigh.

Started back into EVE again. Good times so far and ended up buying the Collectors Edition.

Not sure if I should use the Golden Pod or sell it.

Link here for an extended trial if anyone is looking to give this a go. 21 days free rather than the usual 14

Hy Spudbynight,

Myself and a mate have been playing again since October - I got the Collectors Edition through Markee Dragons website for a good price.

I've sold my Golden Pod and was glad I did got about 1.2B ISK for it!!!

Got 2 x characters up and running now - one to play with exploration, mining and business type stuff and one for faction warfare and PVP.

21 day evaluation link here if anyone would like to take a look! - https://secure.eveonline.com/trial/?invc=2ef4aec1-c1a1-4f26-9464-7e2275e64acc&action=buddy

Allegedly they're expected to hit around 40M according to CCP. General consensus on the forums though is that they'll take a long while to hit that due to supply and demand, looks like they're around 1B at the moment! lol

Looks like they have dropped 500 million according to the market in 3 days. I might take the plunge once they hit below 100.

I assume its just a case of getting the BP's researched? The components should be available already from current T3 production?

Well I downloaded this (again) last night and will probably resub tonight with a mate! Also wrangled two or three others into starting this so we should all have a good laugh!

Just debating on whether continuining where I left off, starting a new character, or a new account altogether to use with Steam!

Yeh they're dropping quick. There are a few differing components, like the small hull sections from Relic/Data sites. We got one in a site at the weekend and burnt to Jita to sell it asap whilst there were buy orders at 260m, they'll be probably a 1/4 that or less before long based on the price of other T3 components!

Definitely think I'll get one myself at some point, but not sure how much I'd actually use it. At ~40m isk with the stats I've seen it looks like it could be fun to fly for a few things :)

Generally I'd say continue where you left off, but if you're starting with a couple of newbies and you've not played in years (ie forgot a lot of mechanics of the game) it might be more fun to start a new char.
If starting a new character I would still do it on your old account however if you have a spare slot - would be silly to waste a char which already has some skill points.

Don't forget to idle in the OcUK chat channel!

In other news... Got killed my a hull tanked Dominix yesterday.... Had my hopes up as I melted through his shield and armour then it all went downhill from there. Neuted dry, scrammed and webbed with aggro on a gate, my poor Gila :(

Awesome yes I found my original accounts from 2004 and 2006 and have started playing with those again - only a few million SP though as I didn't play for long originally.

Are you doing Wormhole Sites as I've found even the nullsec relic / data sites are a bit pants most of the time.

Just got into Faction Warfare with the 2nd account and not yet managed my first kill. I'm using an armor tanked tristan with rails and hobgoblin 2s.

Almost managed my first kill against another Tristan the other evening but he was lucky - we were pretty evenly matched and were at the same hull integrity level before he got the final blow :(

Would love to join an active Corp that does fleet ops - just me and tazman at the moment on our lonesome.

My other (main) character is mainly used for exploring, mining and production stuff.

Yeh I'm in wormhole space, good isk - although you need to be in a fleet or have some expensive ships to make it. Nullsec sites can be good but you need a bit of luck really - the advantage is you only need a covops ship or similar.

Probably worth looking at Eve Uni for a starter corp. Provides training, does various fleet stuff (not sure how much tbh) and has connections with other corporations for when you are ready to move on.

I've played eve for 10 years and the recent changes have breathed life back into it. No longer massive cap blobs coming from the other end of eve to get in on fights. Jump fatigue is good. Small roams going well too atm.

I've only just got this and have done a few of the training missions.

Currently doing some story stuff with the Naval Academy or something.

Its taking some time to get my head around it. I failed a military mission as I generally didn't know what I was supposed to be doing.

Seems good so far, nice to slow things down a bit as I mostly play FPS or racing games. Never really gone in for this sort of game before and this kind of environment (I generally avoid multiplayer at all costs).

Agreed, awesome set of changes as much as most Null blobbers hated it. Lots more skirmishy fights in null, although fighter assist mechanics are lame and also completely OP at the moment.

Ali - you're in for a shock the first time you end up in PvP if you normally avoid MP. Be ready to potentially get killed when you don't expect it.... just because someone thought it would be funny. Don't fly something so expensive that you'll rage if you lose it - the whole risk of genuinely losing stuff is what makes the game amazing though.

Well after two hours of playing it last night I got jumped in low-sec. Drake against three Battleships. I was surprised it took as long as it did for them to down me though. Annoyingly they were smartbombing as well, so got podded too! Nevermind!

Glad I decided against taking my Megathron out instead :p

I was purchasing some very small items (skill books and such) the other day. So I took out a little ship with just a MWD and Modified Cloaking Device.

This was with my FW account and from my homebase in low-sec.

First couple of gates were clear, then next gate as I came out of jump I suddenly see 15-20 flashing in the overview and local. All from the CODE corporation.

So..... I prepared to hit the right buttons in sequence, align to safe spot, cloak then MWD in quick succession.

I get to my safe spot and see "That cloaky Velator!!!" in Local - LMAO.

I think someone took offense at me and on my next couple of jumps could see a flashy in overview trying to catch up. Next jump he catches up and is in a Proteus. Manages to hit me once just as I enter the next jump gate. I come out of the jump thinking all I have left is my Pod but some how I still have 1 bar of hull!!!!

:) damn that lucky cloaky Velator saved my ass :D
