Is moving back to AMD the right move?

Tommy, if he gets 290s he'll come back to your team.

He'll have to keep his Nvidia and go AMD to join my team.:p

You get more ooooomph per £ with AMD mind, but you get a nuke proof padlock with Nvidia, everyones a winner.:D

Think boom got banned because he's been rumbled telling porkies selling too many gpus using downgrading as an excuse.:D

I don't understand why you went with 970s if you wanted so much more than what 970s could offer?

He's limited by his PSU iirc, and his PSU is limited by the small form factor he chooses to game in. So basically it's 1 card from AMD or 2 cards from Nvidia.

He would get a bigger benefit from Nvidia because of SLI, though because DSR doesn't support SLI there's no gain. However with VSR and his 4k native res he wont have any options to downscale as AMD only support a maximum of 3840x2160 (Tonga: AKA the 285: AKA the card nobody owns)

None of what i've posted has even been checked, i just have remember seeing a post or two about something that he might have said.

He's also got his CPU on a phase unit.
Basically, i don't know and like typing ******** to amuse myself.

lol the redheaded step child.

His setup sounds like a complicated mix of extremes of compromise.

Bought GTX970 SLI as I'm all about high image quality and because of that DSR was the star attraction for the move.

However in a lot of games I play running DSR breaks SLI for me and performance tanks making DSR pointless.

Now before everyone jumps in says the cards just suck at 4k it's not the cards.

So with the feature I moved to Nvidia for ( DSR ) effective useless to me and AMD having recently released VSR I'm considering the move back to AMD.

What do you guys reckon?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that vsr doesn't work on UHD/4K screens. :)

DOH! 'Virtual Super Resolution is not available for 4K Ultra HD displays'

A lot has changed since then my friend, CPU is under water, de-lidded at clocked at 5Ghz.

I've changed pretty much everything over the last 6 weeks.

My PSU is now an EVGA 1000w G2 unit

According to AMDmatt more resolutions coming in a 'phase 2' driver.

For what you want i'd wait at least for the phase 2 driver to hit and be reviewed until i even was considering moving back, Unless your money is bothering you i'd also wait for the next gen cards TBH :D

Right so I'm waiting too see

1. What the 'Phase 2' VSR driver will bring
2. What the new AMD cards perform like

Then I'll either keep these 9670's or get 2 AMD cards with blocks.
