OK it suddenely started going faster after I went past the planet I think.

Now I've got there I can't slow down. Just keep whizzing past the destination. Pressing j but nothing.

Yea, still never seen on! I got an option of killing authority from some random guy for the same mission. But I'd rather still hunt pirates. I might abandon it. It's taking me HOURS to find anyone in this method. Really not working for me and I'm getting bored of just jumping into 10 instances at a time before I finally find anyone or anything to do with my mission...

Grrrr. Really annoyed :( was loving this but it's getting real tiresome fast.

I've abandoned it. I've not got time for pot luck. If anyone has any stable solutions to finding targets without just hoping to stumble upon them at some point. Please share. I'm going back to cargo runs.

The planets will slow you down due to their gravitational pull so when you get past them you will speed up again.

When the distance marker is blue you hit j to exit out of supercruise, if you do it before the ship does not have a lock (the ship does not indicate there is a lock other than being on the blue marker) you wont drop out in the instance for where you are aiming for. You can exit supercruise when the ship is not locked by double clicking j to perform an emergency 'drop out', this can damage your ship though but this will just drop you out wherever you are.

Think of areas as mini instanced zones and you are trying to hit j when you are on them to 'drop' into them. If you do it when your not on them you will drop outside of them.

It's not pot luck mate, the best place to look for pirates are wanted ships in nav beacons or extraction sites (or you can pull them out of supercruise if you have an interdictor). These missions are good as you get the bounties and any extra cargo they drop to sell while you are killing them :)

Why can't I jump to my destination?

I want to go to wohler terminal, its in front of me but 35.3ls/1.2 days away. I'm in Super cruise ( I think) but not getting anywhere fast.
Sometimes if you're in FSD mode but it's not picking up speed, back off the throttle and then reapply.

thanks folks. managed to stop in the end but just by luck i think. ill check for the blue distance marker next time.

completed my contract and got 700 cr. :D

Aha, found how to request docking finally.

How do I bring up the side panels in the ship using a keyboard/mouse please? I'd use my rift for it but it's hard to read sometimes.

Right, so I picked up another, 7 pirates. One system. One star. No planets... Nothing. One random USS. Just a random pilot.

Finally something happened. 1 guy showed up.scanned me and moaned that I didn't have anything. Killed him. I now have killed 1 pirate. BUT, he came up clean...

Another just turned up... He pleased for me to abandon. Nope, not this time. Asked me to meet him somewhere but last time I did that nothing happened.so I killed him and now it's still asking me to abandon?

These missions are just **** and make no sense! Walking away from the game now. So frustrating. 3 hours and NO progress.

Carry some cargo, go really slowly in SC, fire your discovery scanner and wait to be interdicted.

DK1 or DK2? If it's the latter, there's a simple solution- bind an easily found key to the "Recenter" command. I stuck an adhesive rubber washer to F12. Then sit back in your chair, recenter, sit normally and you'll be further forward. Makes the screens easier to read (although I can read them from pretty much any position).

Also make sure Rift Quality is set to max, and that your IPD and lens distance setting is configured correctly.

Seems a shame to miss out on the Rift experience! I couldn't play without....

Dk2 mate. Rift Quality is the config util or in options in game?

Get your IPD set in the Rift config tool first, then play with the lens distance knobs until you can see an improvement, then set that too in the config tool. I wear glasses, but not in the rift, but found one eye works better with a slightly different setting than the other, so I set the tool half way inbetween.

Then make sure the Rift Quality slider is at max in the game.

Along with some others on the Frontier forum I've also found that disabling my other monitors makes the Rift experience better, nobody seems really sure why though. It could be that the Rift isn't truly locking to 75Hz.

EDIT: Haven't tried it myself but there's a config file change that sets the text, displays etc to colours other than Orange, which some have found works well- makes sense as the Red subpixels on the DK2 display have a lower spacial resolution compared to Blue/Green.

You're in an anarchy system I expect, everyone is clean in those systems because you can't break the law where there is no law. If you KWS them you'll know a pirate for sure by the bounty on them in your contact list. Some people say having even a single unit of cargo can help identify pirates if you don't have a KWS fitted for whatever reason. As they will scan you and text in chat window will identify their intention.

As for abandon, I believe that's optional and that you can carry on hunting.. Not personally tried it though..
