Decided to travel to Epsilon Eridani, just because it's close to Sol and is a star I recognise. Ran out of fuel in a system with no stations. Eventually gave up and self destructed, turns out the only penalty was a few hundred credits to get an identically fitted ship back. Well, that takes a lot of the tension out of it. To be fair, I've only just started and I think the only thing I upgraded so far was the jump drive.

Well a couple of fairly negative posts from me this evening, but having watched a few videos (including a couple posted here) I'm really looking forward to giving it a good try. No work Friday so hopefully a day getting right into it. :)

Another question (You must hate me :P) On the minimap on the right. if a marker is "on a stick going up" is that above me and can I find it on the galaxy map to plot a course?

Can anyone explain the FSD wakes that show up as white contacts in the radar? If flown through them a couple of times and tried to scan them but nothing seemed to happen? I though they might give a little fuel top up or something.

Finally managed to blag myself a Viper this evening :) Been out killing pirates and got 4 rare artworks and 20k bounty pay out, which isnt bad.

My only problem is that I cant seem to use the heatsink as it just says 'low power' - I tried turning off power to practically everything else and still said the same. Tried putting it in its own fire group, didnt do anything. Any suggestions on how to get it working?

Not a bad game so far, although a bit lonely flying about by myself.

Thx for the help, but I've uninstalled. Will come back to it after xmas when I get my Hotas X and just watch youtube videos until then.

Know them feels, nearly uninstalled last night.

Messaged Zefan swearing blindly and threatening to end my Hotas in a blaze of fire :p

My ASP is wrecking, been doing bounty hunting and targeting poor players out of warp although not found many can safely say I have found my ship for now ;)

you need an FSD wake scanner, that will tell you what system the ship jumped too (Note: you need to then find said ship again, can be done if you are quick to scan and jump)

In a sidey it's not too bad, just wait till you hit the big ships you need some capital for insurance!

Nearly ran out of fuel going for a multi jump run to look for non lethal weapons, managed to find an inhabited system at the last minute, then on my way back I got interdicted by a harmless wanted anaconda, had him down to 87% hull and similar power distributor in my nearly stock sidey when the feds jumped in and ran straight through my lasers, instantly making me wanted, that mechanic sure needs adjusting... :D

This is exactly what happened to me. I was in a jump when someone pulled me out of it, threatened me then started shooting.

Best thing was though I was though I was getting loads of hits on him and he wasn't getting me at all. Not bad for my first dog fight.

Then the Feds showed up, flew straight through me firing at him which made them come after me

You can turn off 'report crimes against me' and they wont turn up to "help" you. Its in the right hand ui panel under functions somewhere.

Doesn't matter, unless you're outside of policed space they will still turn up due to other ships. So basically anarchy systems, at least thats what people say - I've not really gone to one yet I'm too busy doing trade runs to pad my pockets a bit :P

If you're playing an explorer on a single player game do you still get to discover stuff all on your own or is the single player game linked to the multi player game and it will already show as have been discovered by other players?

Is there anyway to find the cheaper modules at other stations?

I'm trying to buy a warranty scanner. It cost me 13k credits when I first got one. But now it's pushing 40k for the same one at a different station. So is there anyway to 'scan' the market to find a cheaper place?

After gathering some data I noticed I have to be about 20ly away to sell the data to Universal Cartographics, which isn't the case in this video so I assume its something they changed recently?

I saw another video playing release and he said that you have to sell about 20ly away as close systems obviously don't care :)

Are you playing in open play? If so see if it still stutters in solo mode. I remember during early beta there was mega stutter caused by people with slow connections (there was no solo mode back then!)

Just had a brief session in Solo before going back to Open, which is exactly the opposite way around to how I thought I'd play.

Hyperspace and Supercruise lagging just as bad, plus I've now seen it on someone's YouTube :(

Remember all modules are not created equal, the more expensive items are generally higher performing examples (check the class/rating/integrity stats, although I've yet to see a proper explanation of them).

Im suprised some people are saying they havent seen a single other player.....the Anarchy System im Pirating in (I forget its name "Nimlble" or something similar) is so full of other players doing similar things, that when I try to dock at the stations, I keep getting denied as all the docks are full......took me 15 mins last night of spamming "request to dock" until I could grab a free spot.

It won't be the same one. It will be a grade better at least even if it's the same class. That means it'll have either slightly better performance aka longer range, or will be lighter, or draw less power than the lower grade one.

As for scanning the market... You've probably already guessed that you just have to look around. My tip is to go to places with big populations. It shouldn't take you long to scoot around and find some correctly priced upgrades. To avoid the dreaded supercruise boredom check out system view before heading somewhere, and see how close the proper stations "look" to the main star - which is marked with an X underneath it - I've found the systems which need you to travel 5 minutes out in supercruise to get to the nearest station happen to have the star, lots of planets or asteroid belts, then the station looking for out, orbiting one of those planets or even the secondary star within that system. Aiming for a relatively highly populated system that has a station close in to the main star seems to have served me well, meaning you can quickly supercruise back and forth to the nav beacon to bust heads.
