Hi all, got a Plex server set up at the moment which I use to access music/TV/film around the home and also when out and about.

Just wondering if anyone here has bought the Plex Pass and if so what for?

I have bought a lifetime pass as it is so useful. I have multiple users (wife and family) and I like to be able to sync to my devices as it charges over night so I can don't have to physically copy stuff or stream stuff all the time - it's just automatic, also I can sync to cloud - which I've done once which was quite cool.

I also use it on my devices and it is useful to have to have the subscription as it means I get the apps on my devices.

I picked up a lifetime sub before the prices went up.

Mainly for the cinema trailers but also for different users / cloud sync. Plus I had been using it free for ages so felt like I owed them something.

used to use XBMC, switched to Plex, never look back.I too took out a lifetime sub prior to price increases mainly because it works so well, across so many devices local or far that it was well worth it imo.

Cinema trailers to randomly play a file from library has reminded of stuff i had forgotten (XBMC did this though) is nice, and i paid because frankly for a lifetime sub its a pittance, and new stuff will get bolted on which we'll benefit from.

I love XBMC but the way Plex manages my media across all my devices just puts it way ahead for me.

On that note the PS3/4 app is now available for plex pass subs. Limited features at the min but a promising start.

Same as most others above.

Long time XBMC user that moved to Plex due to the better media management and ablity to effortlessly and flawlessly sync watching content between all my devices.

Again, like others, I bought the lifetime pass before the prices went up.

1) Because since I hadn't paid a penny for it and use it EVERY day I thought they deserved some of my money
2) I sometimes make use of the sync feature. Very rare, but it's handy for the odd train trip down south.

Apart from that it's not "required" at all.

I use plex on ps4 through the web interface. Its not perfect but works fine for the occasions I want to do it.

Exactly me - except I use the mobile photo upload feature rather than Google/Dropbox

i think if you want to use XBOne or PS4 you need the pass? dont have either so could be wrong thho

You are correct sir! Plex Pass has the advantage of getting to use certain features before the free members.

So yeah, you need to pay at the moment to use it on game consoles but give it 6 months and you won't have to pay for that feature any more.

I do.

Use to use it massively as had a microserver sat at work on a 1gb tinterweb line which I, freinds and family would all stream movies/tv shows off. The best experience was being in a hotel in Nice,France and streaming a movie from it to my phone and airplay'ing to the tv.

However, I've since left that job and so the microserver is now plugged direct into my tv serving only me via xbmc.

Trying to think of reasons why not to cancel Plex now.

i use plex and mediabrowser.tv.
i use trakt to sync play states and scripts to keep plex metadata upto date with media browser as master.

Plex has the edge in terms of low bandwidth (cellular) efficiency, subtitle robustness on roku client.

but media browser is streets ahead for media management, metadata management, possible wider client and server support, more free/cheaper, better community,

I understand it can be a back end to KODI.

mediabrowser seems to have more momentum and community engagement.
I use mediabrowser everywhere on LAN/WIFI (TV, HTPC, Roku, Android, IPAD, DLNA) and only use plex when on cellular...although this will change when media browser introduces device syncing shortly. (i suspect much cheaper than plex, i hope its free as this is the killer app that will draw plex users in their droves)

give mediabrowser a try...especially Kodi users.
