yes, but I have no idea what the differences are etc, they look all the same to me
OK, I'll try to be a bit more helpful.
I`ve recently bought a mechanical keyboard with brown switches.
Brown switches are often described as being the best "all round" mechanical switches. Decent for gaming and typing. I'll try to describe my experience as best as I can.
The keyboard I'm typing on (Corsair K70 RGB with brown switches) has a very "light" feel to the keys - it doesn't take much force to press and register the keystrokes. There is a slight "bump" in the key action, which gives subtle feedback that the key has been pressed. If you press the keys hard they bottom out which does give the keyboard a "hard feel". However, you don't need to press the keys hard to register, and you don't need to press the keys all the way down. It's just down to your typing style, which you can alter with a bit of practice (I'm purposely not hitting the keys so hard at the moment, and the keyboard does actually feel a bit different to how it does when I hit the keys a little harder). One thing that would certainly make this (or any other) mechanical keyboard feel "softer", is the fitting of O rings. These can be fitted under the key caps of each key to help soften the impact of bottoming out key presses. This can help reduce the noise of each key press.
After using this keyboard for a few weeks, I can confirm that brown switches are good all rounders, although I haven't used it for playing any games. It is very nice to type on, and I imagine it would be good for playing games.
Red keys are certainly the popular choice for gaming, but red keys are often described as being not so good for typing on.
I have tried blues keys, and they seem even better for typing, but they are more "clicky", and I thought that the noise would be too much, so the quieter brown keys were the best compromise.
Hope that helps.
