I found a few threads that recommended this chair so I went and got one a few weeks ago. Since I've got it I have had a bad back, is it correcting years of bad posture which is causing this? Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Yes, it is just correcting your posture, just rub mustard on the affected areas until it subsides.

could be its not right for you, I have had one for years without issue, but then ive got a back that seems to be made of adamantium, a statement im sure will come back to bite me in a few years

I have one of these can't see why it's rated so much not that comfy tbh padding not enough for me , I'll be visiting a shop next time i buy one to try chairs out before parting with my cash.

I agree

That's the last time I listen to people on the Internet lol

Everyone was really rating these chairs, but they are tripe. It's like sitting on the floor, the seat has a very slight wobble....it's just...well, a bit rubbish really. Since i've built it, and it came delivered from the swedish flat pack store, I can't really send it back now

Nothing has ever matched my old £60 no-named one from the where in the world, purple shirt brigade. Loved that chair :-(

I kid you not my oldest brother has something like this for his pc room :D Picked it up cheap from a charity shop, the ad brings back memories

Crap chair, said it many times, will continue to do so. Bought one, kept it a few months, gave it away, bought another Herman Miller. Young people won't notice its total crapness for the reason they are young. Get a bit older, start to have back issues and the Markus will make those issues MUCH more prominent, like all crap chairs.

To repeat, it is a crap chair. Looks OK, makes you think it's OK but it's a crap chair and anyone who knows anything about posture will confirm the same.

Yep, total crap. I have 2.
when they're brand new they are 'ok'. I think I only bought the second one to match the first. They're both unbearably uncomfortable now. I'm doing my office out soon and budgeting for a second hand Herman Miller!.

I've got no idea why people recommend them. Sorry OP.

Ive got one of these chairs.

Not gonna lie, the seat cushion is crap.

However, its given me no problems, and overall I would say it has been comfortable for the last year. However I do constantly have it in the free moving slouchy position and my posture is terrible :D

Yea, agree with the consensus here.

I got a Markus based on online recommendations, but they're pretty uncomfortable to sit on after a while and the back support is really crap.

Ikea agreed to a full refund and will be collecting it just after Christmas. Terrible Chair.

Ordered a herman miller from the london aerons ltd company. OK, so it's three times the price, but the Ikea was £135 waste of money so maybe not too bad

Let me know what you think when it arrives.

I've been using an IKEA Markus since Feb 2012 and I actually like it. However recently I've been getting a sore spot about half way up my back, I believe it's from leaning forward on the chair while working. I want to be able to lean forward a bit further but still rest my back, is that even possible?

I work from home, and also play games in the evenings sometimes so often on my chair for 8 - 13+ hours (with breaks, of course). I've been looking at the Steelcase Leap, Herman Miller Aeron and Herman Miller Embody, but there are no showrooms near me where I could try them. The leap and aeron look like they won't be very comfortable to sit on, as there is no padding, the embody looks comfortable but they are about £600 and I would have to drive ~2 hours to try a second hand one.

Hardly a fair comparison - yes they are chairs but look at the price difference!

I'm sure it would be lovely to have a herman miller (even 2nd hand one etc) but I work from home 3 days a week and the MARKUS has been fine for me over last 9 months or so.
