ive got to say im happy at the moment, its good to be able to download games in 20mins rather than overnight

I have a family of 4. The wife uses facebook and iPhone games the two kids can play an online game whilst watching you tube which leaves me with bugger all of the 2.4mb I have to sit and watch websites load. I can no longer play fps or watch Netflix. Hopefully in the new year I will get fibre.

I have Virgin, it is too fast.

I actually downgraded to 100Megabit because i was effectively paying for speed i never used. Even torrents maxed out at 120Mbit. I was paying £40 a month for this, so now it's £24 which is much more reasonable

Had a bit of a worry when we moved 2 miles down the road in October to a new build which was too new and had no virgin media connection as cable not laid in the new estate (had been on Virgin for 10+years and never had a problem). Got on Plusnet unlimited fibre at my new place - a solid 72Mb Down/20mb up - and cheaper than I was paying virgin for 60mb. Very happy with speeds - and there appears to be no packet shaping or traffic management on Plusnet :)

Family of five - 3 Phones, 2 laptops, 2 Chromecasts, 1 Smart TV, 3 Ipads, 1 FireHDTablet, 1 main gaming PC. No issues with speed at all.

I live in a fibre not spot but 20Mbit ADSL is just fine. I used to have Infinity but it was surplus to requirements.

Plusnet fibre 'up to 38'. I am happy enough with it. Wouldn't mind being closer to a cabinet though, my maximum speed is around 42 down apparently.

About 14 meg here on basic ADSL2+.

FTTC is available but I have no intention of paying £10 more a month for it. Eventually I hope it will be a free upgrade. As it is we pay a lot in this country for a pretty poor speed, compared to other 1st world places. The government's claim that we'd have the fastest broadband in Europe is pure fantasy, and laughable at best.

I used to have 20Mbit but then moved to an area where I can only get 7Mbit. It was quite annoying but even 7Mbit is plenty.

Okay, a new game release on digital download might take a few hours/overnight but it's not the end of the world. Especially with the vast prevalence of pre-ordering/loading titles.

As long as it is enough to stream HD content then I have no NEED for more.

However, as soon as Fibre is run to my property in early 2105 I'll be opting for the 1Gbit service....because I can :D

Sky 40/20 here (or is it 40/10?)

Happy enough with it, but i'd like faster, just not willing to pay any more than i already am. I don't tend to ever find myself thinking "this 3-4mb/s download speed is taking ages, i should pay for 80"

Speed isn't everything.

My Virgin Media connection is plenty fast enough but the traffic management is a pain.

What you can do between 4pm to 11pm (weekdays) and 11am to 11pm (weekends) is very limited.

The download cap is 3000MB in a two hour period. I can download that much in around two and a half minutes.

25/5 on Sky Fibre (990m from cab) - perfectly fine for everyday general household use, obviously when Origin/Steam release new games/updates a faster download would be better but have got 1gbps at work for that :-)

Basically this. Although even if I couldn't stream I doubt I'd want to pay more to go faster. I just wouldn't stream. Would be annoying tho.

£23/month + line rental for fibre is taking the **** if you ask me, when normal ADSL is more like £7 + line rental.

And then there's the people who don't get anywhere near the "up to" speed even on FTTC. Some people I know are paying for FTTC and getting about 7mb :p

Yes. 100mb with virgin media is more than enough for my needs. I can download a game through steam by the time i have made a cup of coffee.

The 30mb speed I have before upgrading was fine really, but they offered the 100mb speed for the same price so couldn't refuse.

I'm using Sky Fibre Optic, I get the full advertised speed of 40Mb/s down, and I get about 10Mb/s up, and it's perfect for my needs. Not had to deal with any traffic shaping or download limits.
