My new study by Greg Kingston, on Flickr

It has taken about two months to do, in my spare time around work and a few busy weekends. I replaced the carpet on the floor and laid down a solid oak floor instead, repainting the skirting board as I went. The walls were a putty colour but have been painted back to white to allow the LED colours from a Lightpack attached to the iMac to wash over them. Office storage was standard stuff from Ikea, along with the floating shelves too.

We were looking for a much cleaner, minimal look than before (I don't have a before picture!) and something that we can both work in comfortably if needed - both of us work from home for a day per week on average. Previously we had a few bookshelves and some filing, and now that's all hidden away in the new cabinets. Also stored inside the cabinets are the router, NAS and Time Capsule along with a printer.

It took longer than I'd hoped, but then again, what renovation around the house doesn't!

Thanks!

Lightpack is an adaptive LED lighting display that is produces the same effect as Philips Ambilight. http://lightpack.tv. It can be set to dynamically react to your display, fixed colour or simply transition between random colours for mood lighting. Very good for low light rooms and white walls waiting to be painted with light.

Good effort.

All that work and no budget for a power socket by the desk? The cable running along the skirt spoils the clean look slightly.

Love the floor though.

I completely agree. We decided to change the location of the desk at the last minute, and that was the £10 alternative to a whole lot more. It looks ok when living with it though.
