Alcoholic drinks have a massive range of tastes and flavours. That's like saying I don't like the taste of meat.

I'll rephrase then to I don't particularly enjoy the taste of any alcoholic beverage. I can't stand the taste of beers / ales / lagers and shots and liquers don't really do it for me either. Wine, whilst almost bearable I still don't really all out enjoy the taste and it most certainly has never ever complimented a food for me to date yet and I have tried. That's just how my taste buds work I'm afraid.

Just because there are a large range doesn't mean I have to actually really enjoy the taste of any of them. My only reason to drink alcohol would be to get myself sozzled and I don't find enjoyment in that these days either.

Men come in a huge range of body types, skin colours and personalities. That's like saying you don't like being gay.

Been there got that t-shirt. Whilst certainly tolerable compared to beer / ale / larger I still don't really enjoy the taste and after taste of cider either.

Believe me I've tried a massive variety of alcoholic beverages over the years and I can't really say that there is one that I could sit with and actually enjoy the flavour of it. Don't ask me why, that's just how it is :D

When I think about it though it has been like this since I started my drinking career, that's what it is when you start off it seems. I'd never sip or enjoy alcoholic beverages I'd just neck whatever I had in one, preferably nice and cold to hide as much flavour as possible. I will be scorned for this but I've even chilled red wine to see if it tastes any better like that :D

All the more reason not to do it :p

I was in St Tropez few years back sitting outside at a bar...when suddenly about 5 massive hairy French workmen turned up in hard hats boots etc...

They stood at the bar and all of them ordered a Carafe of Red wine with ICE each

It was around lunch-time

Its normal...and TBH I was on it like a car bonnet after that!:D

Have thought about giving up alcohol before as I'm fairly certain I could mange it as I don't tend to drink too often, sometimes months could have passed before I actually think about it.
When I do tend to have a drink it's usually only 1-2 anyway so normally just stick with that... Have a few stouts and wheat beers in for over the Christmas period :)

Good luck with it though :)

Good luck with it!

I used to drink a lot, pretty much most week nights and all weekend and I realised the cost of such a habit so cut down majorly. I went from that, to no drinking at all for almost two years and now I only go out once in a while, have a good session but the thought of the hangover is always in my mind so I moderate what I drink :) Much more fun.

I still have a nice Ale or something during the week with dinner as one is nothing, and tastes nice.
