Bin lorry crashes into shoppers in Glasgow: 6 feared dead

Horrible time of year for this to happen. Not sure where people thinking it is anything other than a tragic accident is coming from except they might think Glasgow Bin Lorry is somehow related to ****ing Osama Bin Laden. A sorry sign of the times if that's the case :(

I think its more the proximity to other terrorist related incidents makes people more inclined to initially associate a multiple fatality incident of that nature to terrorism rather than an accident.

Which is ridiculous, as how many incidents like this in the UK are related to terrorism?

About zero in the last 10 years?

Ridiculous or not its the first thing anyone asks after hearing about the accident "is it terrorist related?".

Compared to say out of control bin lorries? 0 as well pretty much isn't it?

Now say, drunk drivers, speeding drivers, thefts, drivers falling asleep these are more common.

Awful! Truly awful :(

I was in Glasgow just last week on an Xmas shopping trip. I was very close to where this took place at one point. Scary to think what could happen...

I didn't realise they operated these types of bin lorries solo. Usually have a loader with them as well I thought.

Why would I edit it?

Because it takes trolling to a whole new level given all the facts never pointed to this, in any shape or form, and, having been given the privilege of "Don", you should have an inherent ability to research the facts, rather than wading in with complete garb. Something most other people in this thread have managed to do....

Trolling? Are you serious?

At the time I posted it was reported that the lorry had driven all the way down the street at speed before hitting people at the hotel. It wasn't reported that it was going down the pavement till a good 2 hours later, similarly with the driver being slumped. It wasn't even me that threw in Islam into the mix.

The posts that were removed were due to people making jokes of the dead.

Tragic, the families of those affected must be going through agony at the moment given the timing.

But if the driver recovers he'll have this looming over him every Christmas for the rest of his life now unfortunately.

Thousands of HGVs travel the country every day with only one person in the cab.
firstly RIP all those that died.

secondly maybe install deadman switches in vehicles with a higher than normal probability of coming into contact with pedestrians i.e buses and garbage trucks.
only downside i can see is a higher chance of being rear ended but this is mitigated by the lower than average speeds these vehicles operate at.
