Hi all I was all set to get two of the 970 OCUK Cooler Design for my SLI build until I noticed that the Palit cards were on offer an hour ago so my question is am I going to notice much of a performance difference in SLI between the two cards. Would save a fair bit with the Palit cards over the OCUK Cooler Design but willing pay extra if the performance is worth it. Both are blower fans which I think is going be best in my Bit Fenix Phenom case.

Thank you for reading.

You'd be paying for higher quality components and a guarantee of no coil whine.

There's no guarantee that you would get better performance (through overclocking) but you probably would.

Would I likely notice much difference in heat I assume the OCUK Cooler Design has better blower fans from what you said. At moment it's £160 pounds difference between buying two Palit 970 and two OCUK Cooler Design so quite a bit.

Edit guessing you think I should pay the extra 160 and get the Cooler Design 970 cards?

The Palit cards will be much louder and are annoying at idle.

Ah thanks I will just stick to getting 2 GTX 970 Cooler Design cards in January then figured it was worth asking as it is a fair amount of difference in price. But sounds like the age old saying you get what you pay for applies here.

i had to make the same choice myself and went with the ocuk ones, yep its more expensive but i realy liked the look of the titan style cooler but ive long gotten over the price and give it no thought now

Yeah on aesthetics the cooler design cards win hands down they do look very nice have that premium look to them. Think I will get them as the Palit cards don't look as well made. Heard good things about Titan style coolers.

After my last usage of the Palit 970's they suck! Hotter, Louder and naff fans :(

It was returned

Ah thanks for that certainly sounds like I would be making a mistake getting the Palit cards. Heat is certainly a major concern in running SLI in a small case. Thanks for all the advice everyone appreciate it a lot hopefully when I get my cooler design cards along with my new motherboard and PSU I have a solid gaming rig.

I've decided to go with my original idea and get two 970 Cooler Design cards for my SLI setup in January along with my new Motherboard and PSU. While it's going cost me £160 more I don't think it's worth cutting corners in this case. A fair few people I've spoke have said the Palit 970 is hotter, louder and has bad coil whine. I expect those issues to increase further when in SLI which is not what I'm after want an enjoyable gaming experience. The 970 Cooler Design from what I've read and heard is built better has a better blower fan and better build quality has the longer warranty and simply looks to be the more well constructured model of the two.

Likely in terms of gaming performance it's probably not worth it to buy the 970 Cooler Design over the Palit 970. I think in terms of making sure your case is less hot your system is less loud it is probably going to be worth it. Seems like in this situation paying the premium is going to deliver that premium experience.

I'm going be running this in a small case so things such as heat is something I really needed to consider and don't think cutting corners is worth it in this situation.

Thanks for the advice everyone appreciate it a lot.
