We should extend the tower hamlets housing blocks across the whole of London, then everyone is happy.
Services are there, everyone gets their own community, Londonors are already happy living with other people, and the rest of England can carry on as normal.

We should have course reserve a few flats for politicians to use as their second/third homes.

If services are unable to cope, why are we not clamoring for more investment into services? Why is the government continuing to make cuts, and continuing to pressure councils into not increasing council tax?

Besides which, more houses doesn't equal more NHS costs.

Maybe we should print off some more money and get it sorted then eh?

PS if you spread people out in new houses, then new hospitals and GP surgeries would need to be built, therefore you'd either need new staff or to repurpose existing staff, either way, costs would increase as you'd have more hospitals/surgeries/dentists open to serve the new homedwellers.

Not disagreeing with you, but seemingly so much needs to change to either free up or collect the money in the first place. The UK's biggest export is financial services, most tax revenue comes from here. Scaring banks and other multinationals off our shores by imposing higher corporation and income taxes and cutting bonuses would be a pretty **** poor idea when we make so little money elsewhere.

That's what I understand to be the picture at the moment but am happy to be educated by those who know better if I'm off the mark.

The other issue is that at the moment, is that because social housing is so short it is almost ghettoised in the way it works. Subsidised social housing should be available for anyone earning less than about £18k per year which means we need a lot more of it. The housing needs to be owned by the government/councils, and not simply paid out in housing benefit which goes to private landlord's pockets.

I am lucky at the moment i have a fixed rent from 4 years ago, which is about 200-300 saving every month. If that ends ill have to spend an additional 300-400 or more to get what i have now in the same area and that is already 1 hour out of london. If i lived closer i would have to house share again as could not afford rent. It is quite crazy when you work hard earn up to £40k and can't even rent a one bedroom flat within a reasonable distance to your work. Meanwhile all labour seem to care about is making sure enough poor people get free houses.

I earn a little short of that and on track to buy a 3 bed house for ~£250k - £300k within the next year (total time saving ~2 years). My current outgoings are about £1k a month. I will be within a 40 minute commute to London City.

We all know we have not for enough houses at present its causing prices to rise so a lot of people can only dream of owning their own home. Building houses everywhere is ruining towns and villages as the services are not being added. What is the answer you ask?
