St Louis Police Do it Again

Can't see what the issue is if events are as they were reported. If you're stupid enough to pull a hangun on an armed officer the result is going to be pretty inevitable. Of course in the current climate surrounding the Michael Brown shooting people aren't going to see it as balck and white as that, (excuse the pun).

How can the gun not be recovered if they shot the guy holding the gun?

CCTV should make this an open and shut case.

Think I saw that too, the chap could be heard saying "great shot" presumably just before getting bundled.
Think just about all police forces in the world train their officers to shoot to kill. That's not really an issue, the issue is more whether or not using the gun was needed.

My bad.

This must be happening all over the country. Need to pick carefully what cases people decide to protest.

Can't they just say "teenager"?

No, they are being deliberately descriptive to make the community go rabble rabble rabble racist cops again rabble rabble rabble. As someone else has said its provocative headlines to stir trouble to make the average stupid Joe public think that this and the incident a little while back of another black kid being shot (for holding a toy gun that looked insanely real....but hey its the corrupt racist police's fault) is somehow proof that the police across 'Merica are all KKK members....

So is this going to be reported every time a police force in the US shoots a black person now? Or just in Missouri because it's a flash point?

Media should be ashamed, more than usual.

I think if the other person is threatening with a confirmed gun, you deserve what you get.

And why is armed in quotation marks? If they've recovered a handgun that he pointed at the officers then it seems fairly safe to say that he was armed without qualifying the issue.

I can only hope that this shooting doesn't cause further unrest, at the very least it seems unfortunate to follow so closely behind the shooting of Michael Brown.

Can't they shoot to disarm rather than shoot to kill?

Was thinking the same. However it never appears to happen in the Good Ole' US of A

Every thread without fail.

What makes me laugh is that guns are normally concealed in the waist band and then brought up to the firing position, how on earth do you think it is possible to 'shoot to disarm'? Small gun is still right infront of their torso.

Because of the current climate? How can you fail to see it would currently have more of an impact on American society right now. The BBC aren't suggesting this was racially driven.

There are pretty clear connotations to the BBC headlines.

You almost never see a headline where black is a negative way.

If you are on twitter look at black people in the USA accounts. Tweeting frenzy. It's all the same boring ****.

'Officers killing black people for fun. Black people aren't safe. Police are murderers. Just like Mike Brown. Blah blah blah blah.'

I thought the remedy would be quite simple. Don't pull a gun on cops? Don't assault armed cops, etc.

Yeah, easy enough to shoot the gun out of someone's hand .

Yeah tis quite basic, just switch to red eye mode, it slows down time and then move the cursor around the hand area.... oh wait, that's a computer game. I wonder if people making those comments play a few too many if them.

Can't they shoot to disarm rather than shoot to kill?

A highly skilled marksman could i'm sure. But local plod with a gun in their face? Doubt it. Certainly wouldn't expect them to be able to half of the time. Shoot for self defence rather than disarm.

Seems like a non-issue here this time. The guy was armed, pointing a gun at a cop.
