Recently bought a new monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution and am having some problems getting it to work with a dvi dual link cable

is my graphics card enough to run this resolution i am using a r6950?

when i boot the PC with only this monitor plugged in i geta a brief windows 8 splash screen then it turns black .
I do not get my normal bios splashscreen appear at all though

it is monoprice zero g monitor if that helps at all

thanks

yes i tried both one works with a vga cable and dvi adaptor
but when i try to use teh dvi cable i get nothing although the monitor is detected from one of the ports

The one which works with the VGA cable and adapter is dual link.

Perhaps you should try another cable.

If you don't have another dual link cable a single link one should work sufficiently to get an image on the screen albeit not at 2560x1440.

as you can see the monitor is recognised . windows are even open on the 2560x1440p screen but i t is not producing an image with the dvi cable

no other pc to try it on .
i did contact their tech support and went through a number of options in the end they said faulty DVI port and i will rma

been through the RMA service and they have sent out a new monitor and said RMA has been Closed. does this mean they do not want the other monitor back? i checked the shipping number and they already sent another out to me. i am quite confused as to what to do with the old monitor now, any ideas ?

recieved new monitor today all working fine. however they did not want the old one returned so i figured i could use it as a second/third monitor. im having some problems getting it to work witha vga cable and a dvi adaptor on thye single link channel is there anything i should do? or will i need a displayport to vga adaptor or something ?

the othe ports are mini displayport and 1 hdmi

They didn't want the monitor back  well in that case i would take it apart and check the cables are connected properly inside you never now it might be something that simple:)

No harm in trying now you have a new one :p

i opened up the back and had a look i didnt really know what to look for but nothing obvious seemed wrong to me at least.
any ideas if it would be worthwhile getting the port replaced.
seeing as i essentially got 2 monitors for the price of one the price of any repairs should still be worthwhile i think? or maybe not?
for now at least i will try to connect the vga to the display port with an adaptor of some kind unless there are any reasons why this should not work ?#

edit: oh and i think the shipping and repairs back to the US may have been too much for them so they just let it go? , thats all i can think of at least .

why not just use the display port or HDMI? there are lots of adapters to change the connections if your card doesnt have the right port.

I use Hdmi to go to my TV, display port to go to my first monitor and dvi to go to my second monitor, works ok for me, maybe just try one of the others.
