Anyone had any experience with the Alphacool NexXxoS GPX. Its a full cover cooling block but only the GPU is watercooled the rest is passive. Bit like having a full reference cooler without the fan and watercooled GPU.

They are about £20-30 cheaper than true full cover water blocks. You can have different configurations so the tubes either come out the back or top.

Just wondering whether they are worth the £40 saving. OCUK have said they will never stock Alphacool stuff but you can pick one up for £54 inc free delivery elsewhere.

If you are trying to do watercooling on a budget maybe they make sense.

It's a ridiculously restrictive universal block with a VRM and VRAM heatsink. Concept is good, not original and not well executed. Look at Stren's review of the R9 290 version on Extremerigs

Why will OCUK never stock alphacool stuff? Is there something wrong with the products or is the company a nightmare to deal with?

We have the R290 version out self and yes it is restrictive how ever it blows several water blocks apart when used with a small 80mm 120mm fan. To get the most of it very much like the thermosphere from EK you have to use it with moving air. Any good block that only cools the GPU only are normal much better than full cover options.
