When does steam Christmas sale start?

None of the items on my Steam wish list have dropped below 50% yet, so no purchases so far for me. They need a 75% discount to even start to bring them in line with prices that have been charged on various key selling sites recently.
 
Anyone bought Bulletstorm? Did so yesterday and it won't launch. Looks like a common issue with GFWL and no doubt like with GTA4 I'll just ending up spending loads of time trying to get it working and give up...
Might just see if I can get a refund...



edit - scratch that. Sorted it. Either a different error to what I used to get with other GFWL products, or just much clearer up to date information due to the game being in the sale. If anyone else gets the same issue - reinstall the newest version of GFWL, if it refuses to let you log in despite knowing you have an account go to create a new account with the same address. It'll tell you it exists, but then log you in via a webbrowser prompting you to accept new T+Cs. Logged into GFWL, game now launches.

I grabbed Alien Isolation yesterday.

How good is Red Alert 3? My son loves Supreme Commander so is RA3 worth grabbing?
