**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

My lines of woe:

Will be sending it off tomorrow, I bet I won't get it back before the new year, but maybe this is a good thing if Sony release Lollipop starting Jan, something to look forward to I guess.

I suppose they will replace the whole phone too since it's supposed to be a sealed unit.

I have no idea but I am a bit miffed having seen that a £144 phone has it yet our flagships do not!

Its what happens when your disciplined with your skin, although Sony's is not so bad its still a lot of changes that goes into it, that I really don't think it needs.

From reading on XDA seems that people are seeing much bigger battery drain with the new update. Hasn't been released to my Z3 yet, but think I'll hold off for the time being when it does!

New update available (xperia update 23.0.1.A.5.79) still 4.4.4

Ive not updated yet, will wait for reports before I do

The initial version seems to be 23.0.1.A.5.77 where as Bigbud has mentioned 23.0.1.A.5.79

Wonder if the small step is to fix the drain issues found in .77, my sim free unit has not had any update prompt on it as of yet but I've seen O2 units come up with the prompt.

Changelog:

Enhanced audio volume in notifications and ringtones
New Xperia™ camera app: Portrait retouch
Improved Exchange ActiveSync performance
Fine-tuned audio for speakerphone
Stability and performance improvements

I would try it but hey, my phone is in a Royal Mail facility right now...!

:(

My GF's Z3 has failed - yesterday it wouldn't turn on at all. Trying to reset via the button next to the SIM or pressing Volume Up + Power just does nothing.

Took it into the Three store, to be told they can't do anything, and basically to call Sony.

Brought it back home and left it on charge, as some other posts I'd found suggested it may respond again once on charge for a while - instead what it's done is switch the vibration motor on - and it's been vibrating constantly since last night...

It's now powering on, but still vibrating. Have done a firmware reinstallation, but it never stopped vibrating!

Guess it's going to have to go for repair :( Will have to wait for battery to drain first...

Well I've now got the update, but it's 23.0.1.A.5.77, not .79 as Bigbud seems to have above.

Going to wait a bit to install it given the battery drain issues people seem to be reporting with .77 :)

Update applied to mine the other day, also build number ending .77

Only notable feature worth mentioning is the increased volume of notifications, I can actually hear them now!

gunna call bs on the .77 being a hog on battery. Two and a half days now and I ain't charged the phone - still sitting strong at 35% left.

its prob some rogue app.

This is the first android phone i've ever had where I havn't had a need to constantly flash different roms - it just works. No hard reset after the update either!

Glad Sony are taking their time a little with lollipop - hopefully the nexus beta testers will have pointed out the bugs and they'll be addressed by the time we get it ;)
