Anyone got any Turbo Training workouts that they wish to share? I don't want to pay for another month for TrainerRoad and only use it the once (tomorrow) as I'm hoping to go back to outdoors next week

Thanks

So i was riding with my dad on xmas day, looked back to see where he was and promptly hit the kerb and flew onto the pavement. Finished the ride and went to the RVI on boxing day, turns out i broke my elbow and possibly my scaphoid. Wear your helmets, kids!

I was looking for a travel bag to put my bike in a few months ago. I was set for the Biknd Helium bike bag which cost about £450 or so new. It's a soft bag that inflates around the bike. Reviews of it say it's one of the best soft bag that is on the market. Hard cases are good but too bulky especially if your not using it often so I decided against them.

Took a quick look on gumtree last night and found someone selling on pretty close. Got it for £200! it's been used once! happy as Larry. :-)

Can anyone recommend a good helmet mounted front light? If anyone is even using it. Exposure or cheap eBay jobbie at 20 quid. And beam pattern? Spot or spread?

Whee, new helmet from my parents and £50 from my grandma which will get me started on bits for the single speed I'm going to build this year. My parents also got me some bike chain cufflinks, which are clearly authentic as they say Shimano HG on the side!

Just about to start my first track session. The track bike feels like an alien machine :p

Session was awesome. Going back on the 5th and hopefully get to do a bit of blue line practice. Speed felt pretty moderate but being a bigger guy (6'1''/80kg) I guess I will fare better on the track than I do on hills.

First few minutes on a fixed gear bike felt pretty harrowing but by the end it felt quite natural. If it carries on feeling that nice to ride I'm going to have to get myself an iPhone, cappuccino and a moustache...

Did you get that first yank from the crank quickly reminding you that you can't freewheel? :d took me a couple rides to forget and just relax instead. Nearly 2 years fixed now and can't live without it.

The instructor asked us to do that on our first couple of laps to experience it whilst at low speed. Despite doing it I still forgot at least two more times before it ingrained itself. I think the turbo sessions I've done lately have helped a little with it as the power readout is a constant reminder to keep peddling.

My ride back home from the velodrome was actually a little weird - took me 10 minutes to get used to being able to freewheel again :p

My Garmin 500 from Amazon just arrived. Also bought a 910XT so trying to decide which one to keep.

Nice, if you decide to sell the 500 I might be interested... If you're up for selling it near for what you paid!?

Strava premium has a couple and you may get a free month of premium, failing that YouTube. A friend of mine did say there are some sufferfest torrents out there but good luck as I never found them...

Ouch! I always wear my helmet anyways, especially after getting knocked off and breaking one! Fair play for finishing the ride, take it easy and hope you have a speedy recovery! :o

Result! Nice find!

I'm using the Lezne Macro Duo but don't exactly do much non-streetlight night riding. I should have one turning up from that magazine sub at some point which i'll then be looking to sell, if you're interested? Although I imagine many others will be on the bay the same time!

Failed to ride any yester day and spent 5 hours sorting bikes, i'm 80% done but now I need some advice regarding chains...

Was servicing my 'old' road bike (Carerra Virtuoso) and noticed it has two links ceased, i'd never really serviced the chain (just cleaned and oiled) in the 800 or so miles it's done. I used a chain tool to remove the 2 ceased links and gave it a really good scrub (it's now silver again!). It has HG on the links so is a Shimano chain... But reading up how to refit the links it says not to refit the links I have removed (parktool)? I didn't read it first and probably should have... I've never removed a chain before so excuse my noobishness! :o

Is it even safe to refit the removed bars even temporary? It's a turbo bike so no danger if it does break...

I've rejoined a few shimano chains in that way with no real issues, though I find shimano chains are a bit more snappy than other makes anyway

Popular wisdom when I started cycling in the 90s was that shimano chains were utter chod. I use SRAM or KMC everywhere.

Yeah so I gather, but this is a cheap bike I'm now only using on the turbo so don't see the need for any expense! ;)

Looks like I'll spend a bit of time trying to refit the links and see how they behave, failing that it's down to Halfords I go to get either replacement links (pack of 3 for £3.50) or a replacement chain (£10). I won't be changing the cassette so I'll probably do the cheapest option as a bit of a learning curve :)

Thanks Roady and Derek W

I was thinking really about programming my Garmin Edge to tell me when to change efforts etc, rather than setting up my laptop in the shed (Incidentally I bought it for trainer Road last year so I have the ANT+ dongle)

Just got myself a few bits to get my bike up to standard for Majorca

Dura Ace Bottom Bracket
SRAM chain
Shimano 105 cassette (12-25 - may get an 11-28 for Majorca)
Vittoria Diamante Radiale Tyres - 220TPI for 12.99, surely can't go wrong!
