I've been using a ASUS Xonar DX card but for a while I was sometimes getting a weird, random problem where I'd get loud, static hissing noise when starting playback. Videos in media players, youtube vids and even system sounds would trigger it off! Then I only got audio out the left speaker.
Doing the speaker test in the ASUS control panel, the right channel was much lower or if I changed modes, such as music it would either work ok or not at all.
Tried the UNI drivers that seemed to fix it until next reboot.
So now I'm on on board audio, (Realtek ALC892) which sounds ok but a little flat compared to the internal card.
Now considering a USB soundcard and have narrowed it down to the ASUS U7 or Soundblaster Omni.
The Omni is a bit ugly but read the U7 is poor with headphones? Is there any problems with lag/delay using USB audio?
So which would you recommend?
I mainly listen to music and some gaming through my Audioengine A2 speakers and some Skype calls via headset.
