i'm on the verge of picking this up.. Been playing eve online for past 10+ years and fancy a change.. Guess i need to splurge out on a joystick or is keyboard n mouse ok?

Is it possible to get cheaper than on the official site £39.99 a bit steep for a game I am unsure of and tbh been put of a little from getting space sims after xrebirth

Bought this yesterday after watching countless vids.

I'm blown away by how awesome it is, I'm just making my way through the trying, is anyone else using a saitek fly 5?

Using the fly 5. It's OK, but missing the extra hat of more expensive sticks. Luckily I have a Nostromo sitting alongside it which helps, but still need three hands. Will have to upgrade at some point.

I'm actually finding keyboard and mouse fine, I did try an xbox controller but didn't get on with that (though a lot of people do and in fairness I only gave it 10 minutes).

I may well splash out on something better at some point, but I'd say its really not bad like this.

Sorting through some old gaming stuff over the weekend, came across this:

Yeah, the novella is in there. Can't remember if that came with Elite or Frontier. It looked very similar to the manual for Elite, though.

Unfortunately it's all gone into store, along with all my vintage gaming gear (Master System, Mega Drive, Mega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast etc.) The only reason it was out was that we were sorting through a load of boxes to go into store to make space. Should be coming out of store around the end of January. I'll take some more pics then.

I might even hook up my BBC to see if it's still working and have a go on Elite and Repton.

I can see me playing this game for a long time, as it suits my style of game. Sure it is MP but you can spend it all solo play and 99% of the time, I prefer that style of play. Just upgraded my Sidewinder to an Adder and getting on well with it. So much to learn still and still don't know half the keys :D

Last time I got our BBC out (late 90s) most of the discs were unreadable, including Elite. So it got sent for recycling... :(

Kept the Elite manuals, that was about it.

Taking down a wanted hauler, no issues at all, and he swung round and crashed into me and even though I seemed to take nothing but shield damage I lost all control of the ship. Ended up dead and lost a lot of bounties, never knew they wiped if uncollected upon ship destruction :(

Still tempted by this, but the thought of mining/trading leaves me a bit cold.

So I can go about the game just looking for fights and making dosh out of that?

Though for 40 quid... Just not sure what I am paying for with this game. Am kind of person who needs a reason to do things. Outside of just making credits to upgrade something.

But it looks so pretty and been wanting a good space game for ages.
