There has been another shooting in the US of A, involving a two year-old shooting his mother dead.

Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-30636326

A woman in the US state of Idaho has been killed after her two-year-old son accidentally shot her with a gun he found when reaching into her handbag.

Just a nasty accident, but does this not show yet more weaknesses of current gun controls in the USA. Why the hell was the gun in reach of a two year-old and why do you need a gun when shopping in Walmart? Yet more incidents involving guns, yet nothing is being done about it.

The gun was within reach of a two year old because either the mother was stupid or because America has such a lax attitude to firearm safety it didn't even cross her mind.

I don't really understand why the kid reached into the handbag - aren't there enough guns in the aisles of Walmart to play with?

Probably both :(.

I really hope she wasn't one of these idiots that just carry a gun because AMERICA!!! Like the fools that walk around the supermarket with an assault rifle on their backs, just because they can.

I blame call of duty/gta/kids going round in gangs to look tough/weed/underage drinking/selfie culture/facetube/youbook/not doing homework/not saying prayers/tv/isis/obama

Why are there no decent god fearing people left in this world!?

With the usual gd done with, on a serious note i feel sorry for the family, its a terrible thing for a child to lose a parent and how much more heartbreaking to know you did it?

Guns have their place in this world, but within reach of a child isnt it

Sadly, it's possible for the nuts to use this story in such a way... "2 year old known to have watched Call of Duty advert! Video games have struck again".

Didn't seem to be protecting anyone in that handbag

I couldn't imagine walking around tesco or asda with a loaded gun in my bag, jeeze

You'd hope someone who was able to get a concealed carry permit would know about how to safely carry the things, but it would appear not.

The boy probably thought it was a toy and fired it. Don't most firearms have a safety catch on them? Someone more knowledgeable in that area can enlighten me. :D

Yes, but even still you shouldnt chamber a round! And really think most Americans are just paranoid

They need laws like we do in the UK, more tight, no small arms, no automatic weapons except for military use, semi auto firearms with restricted calibres on a licence and a reason to use (club) or high velocity rifles for hunting, shotguns on a certificate with similar police checks.

Allowing consealed arms or infact auto weapons is just asking for accidents, murders, hold ups.

"Right, need to pop to tesco to buy some chicken for tonight, keys..check, purse....check...loaded gun....check"

As sad as this is, I don't see why you would go through all the trouble of getting a permit to carry such a weapon, and then go and leave the safety off.

On most firearms the safety catch has to be applied by the operator. Some Muppet decided that a weapon needs to be loaded and ready to fire to be effective, so now most concealed carriers don't have the safety on because they think the micro second it takes to disengage it will cost them there lifes. Whilst in the situation she you need to quick draw a loaded weapon, having it primed will make little difference.

End of the day this is very sad news but until the us brings in mandatory safety training it will carry on happening.
