LG Electronics (LG) today announced plans to introduce the world's first 21:9 "UltraWide" gaming monitor compatible with AMD FreeSync technology for fluid motion during fast gameplay.

The new monitor headlines LG's expanded lineup being unveiled next week at the 2015 International CES and further solidifies the company's leadership in the growing 21:9 segment, which caters to the digital imaging, business professional and gaming markets. Based on IDC's Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker, LG is the world sales leader in this monitor segment over the last seven fiscal quarters (as of the third quarter of 2014) with a market share of 77.3 percent of the world's 21:9 monitors

I really want a new monitor, but i'm waiting for 144hz, 1440p IPS panel with or without freesync/Gsync

I might be waiting a while.

I've got my eye on this monitor, but i may end up going with a non widescreen 4K IPS Freesync screen instead.

Its good that the monitor industry is showing everyone a bit of love. With been suck in the 1080p 16:9 era for too long now.

I'm torn between a 1440p 21:9 monitor, a 4k monitor or just waiting it out untill i can buy both the monitor and a GPU that could max out the game settings.

Nice to have Freesync support but I'm guessing from the naming scheme of this monitor 34UM67 that (like the 34UM65) it'll be a flat 21:9 34" 2560x1080 display rather than 1440p?

Nice!

Although as much as I like the 21.9 aspect ratio, I am getting fed up with new games not properly supporting it (not so much an issue with older games.....) and unfortunately it seems like flawless widescreen has been abandoned. If GTA 5 doesn't have proper 21.9 support then that is me done with 21.9 AR

Saying that for my next monitor, I def. want a VA panel, so badly want true deep blacks although I also want to have decent motion clarity....

Me too! I think the 34" 21:9 is a better sized monitor (for my room/desk setup at least) but a 40" 4k monitor is also appealing due to the more standard 16:9 aspect (and being large enough to use at 100% scaling in Windows) but I worry it may be physically too large to practically use as a monitor!

Now we're starting to see 34"/40" 'monitors' how large can you go before it starts causing issues! How big is too big...!

Gibbo said he has been talking to LG since November about a 3440x1440 FreeSync monitor. I have contacted LG a few times over the last year about FreeSync and they said it was coming at some point.

In this thread?
It looks to me like Gibbo is referring to the UM67, not the 1440 one.

what games are you getting fed up with? i find most games do!

The most recent ones that I have played:

call of duty advanced warfare (no fix/mod at all, unless someone has done something in the past month, but too late as I completed it ages ago)

far cry 4 (patch 1.5 give the 21.9 support, however, the FOV still doesn't look right + when you put the oxygen mask on, the black bits are still 16.9 and other wee things like that)

dead rising 3 (fixed with flawless widescreen but still issues with blood splatter effects etc. only taking up the 16.9 area)

Most importantly though, is that you can't use the flawless widescreen program when playing online because it might be seen as a cheat thus banned.

As long as GTA 5 has proper 21.9 support I will be happy to keep with the 21.9 aspect ratio as that will be my main game of this year :p I expect battlefront and batman AK to have 21.9 support since the recent games i.e. previous batman arkham games + BF 4, hardline etc. have proper 21.9 support
