When does steam Christmas sale start?

I guess you could trade cards a bit like the stock market. In theory you could make money, but it would be pretty poor with the trading fees.

Rubbish for me, only game I bought was Bit Trip Runner 2 for 87p. Wished I bought the tomb raider collection when it was £11.99 and really wanted Distance to come on sale, looks amazing like a cross between Wipeout, Trackmania and Tron but £14.99 for a Mostly unheard of indie game seems a little steep!

I got loads. Preordered witcher 3, and bought Rome 2, endless legend, this war of mine, and you need a budget, which I decided I needed after spending 80 quid on games and 149 on a g27

When did they start adding this to all the early access games?

"This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development"

Get out clause alert, lol

So basically if a Dev doesn't get enough interest (money) for their game they can just drop it without fear of refunds etc.

As always - buyer beware!

Well yes. Often they may well be relying on getting enough sales to fund the rest of the development, so it could be called a get out clause but they may well need to stop even though they might really want to continue.

The warning has been there for some time now, I think its fair enough, if people really want to buy an early access game its up to them, but they need to be aware of the risk.

Besides, you've highlighted the most common misconception - you're not a 'buyer' at all, you're a backer - an investor. You're giving money to support development, with the promise of the finished game when (or if) the game is finished.

Investments don't always pay off :)

You can if you trade smart & follow the guidelines of 1:2 trading for different sets, the money involved is small but I imagine the 4000+ card traders have made a fortune.

I started with £1.27 and around 40 cards from various games.
I traded cards for holiday cards when they were about 15p each, sold them and bought booster packs, dropping me down to about £0.70, then when the holiday cards dropped I traded 1:2 for them, and then traded them 1:1 for other game cards, then on and on I trade.

Currently have gained 2 holiday foils, 1 skyrim foil (£0.48), 90+ cards & created about 5-6 badges, including Skyrim which is an expensive set, so it does work, but does take some time as everyone wants a profit.

1:3 holiday cards for foils was a good money maker as well.
