ACU white pixel flickering / artefacts

Hi,

Can someone advise if my GFX cards is a dud or if it is the game.

I know ACU has had a lot of issues and even after all the patches SLI is still broken.

However, I am currently running it on a single 970's and I am getting weird pixel flickering / artefacts when inside buildings, and I also get funkiness just standing outside / running about.

Here are fraps movies of it the issues...

Is this a problem with the game, NVidia driver, my GFX card?

I have a brand new inno3D 970 iChill x4 ultra, running @ stock. The game has all settings on max.

I have ran a couple of 3DMark Fire Strike tests and also get the very occasional red pixel artefact and have also had the driver crash a couple of times?

The card doesn't go above 50c - so it can't be overheating?

Your advice is appreciated,

It might not be the card at all.

Best thing to do is go on the Ubisoft forums, their games are always with problems and this might be one

That looks more like faulty vram to me, any chance you can run other games to see if only acu does it?
Acu does suffer from texture pop in, but not random textures appearing in the sky when stood still

well I have decided to send the cards back under CCR, they are only 3 days old and already the coil whine has got on my ****!

Having had driver crashes, artefacts not just in ACU as well as a constant humming /whirring over the top of an already loud case (NZXT Phantom with 2 x 240mm top fans on full speed!) driving me nuts.

I have requested a refund and will replace them with their Galax 'silent' - no coil whine guarantee, as I care more about them being quiet than fast as I don't overclock, I SLI instead!

I never had this problem with my MSI Twin Frozr 760's, yes you get audible air turbulence as the fans spin up under load, that it tolerable, but not the noisy whir I seem to be getting with these 970's.

Very frustrating, as all I want is to enjoy my new X99 build and play my new game, but so far, all I seem to have done is spend a shed load of money on nothing but disappointment and hassle.

Hmm

First video I would say nothing to worry about. You seem to get random dots. I get the same (GTX 970) but mine are stright lines if you like accross the 'seems' of the world.

The second video however, looks like artifacting. Does it do it in any other games?

---

Inno are a cheap brand mate. That might e the problem.

Don't know, the only game I have installed in this new rig is ACU I got for Christmas and have been reluctant to cash in my game tokens from these GFX cards until I was sure I was happy and keeping them.

I get weird red dots and the odd bluey purple blocks when running 3DMark Fire Strike (standard) after the card has been in use for a while gaming and that's on stock, not even using 2% TuneIt!

But temps are no where near the max 90c? Not impressed with these at all, my 760's worked smoother and quieter, albeit on lower res due to the lower spec cards!

Then why has OCUK put their name on them, does that mean OCUK are a cheap eTailer? I don't do cheap, and I don't consider £600.00 on GFX cards cheap! Does that mean the OCUK branded Galax are also cheap? Last thing I want is to be jumping out the frying pan into the fire!

Inno being cheap is my own deduction. Could be wrong. But would only buy cards from brands I recognise aka: Asus, Gigabyte, MSI

Holds hand up if wrong. That was what I came to the conclusion of, based on a few factors.

Both videos point to a fault. The white dots are not normal in unity and obviously the texture flickering in the second video isn't. As above, looks like faulty Vram.

Heisenberg, I am 'certain' you are correct.

Here is the a similar ceiling in ACU where I experienced similar issue only this time back once again running my old SLI MSI Twin Frozr 760's.

http://dance-music.org/bits/ACU_760.mp4

Not a flickering pixel in sight, no artefacts, no anomalies, just lush, beautiful imagery.

OK, performance wise they are sub par, I'm lucky if I get 10 or 12 FPS as I have left everything on max settings to prove a point and to make a fair comparison, but still the temps are below 55c and I can hardly hear a butterfly whisper from the fans.

Time to put the settings lower and start enjoying this game once more!

Currently wishing I never upgraded!

You should test it out in at least one more game but the card looks faulty. Annoying but it should get sorted out for you fairly quick now the holidays are over.

Just to add, did you try it running on both cards individually? If both cards individually showed the flickering then it would point to something else. Highly unlikely to get 2 with exact same fault.

In fact just to be totally fair, here is the same ceiling with the setting lowered, so I get @ 30FPS, still 50% less that the 970's where I was getting @ 60FPS, but clearly far superior quality.

I'll take quality over quantity every day of the week :)

not the game no, but I did try each card on it's own regarding the coil whine, and found both to be just as noisy, so that was enough for me to give up on them and send them back. Well it was 1:30 AM and I had work today!
