Behind you... Naked!
I have been very lucky with the internet since I first had it.

I went with supanet and then with BT and I was with BT when broadband came along.
I then moved to XLN and then a few years ago, I went with the Post Office, and to be absolutely honest, I dont think I have had a single issue with the lines beign down that were caused by the ISP... Funky router settins sure, but not the ISP.

Its no different to this day. I am with the Post Office and their service is spot on, I am gettign a solid 9.8Meg connection and as for the Broadband itself, I cannot fault it.

Now, the thing is this -

My Telephone line and BB are with the P.O and my bill is a fairly constant £50-£55 a month.

If I dont use ANY phone calls, it went to £42 one month but it has been as much as £93 last year in april.

This as I said, is monthly and its quite expensive.

I do have some extra toys I grant you like caller ID and blocker and barrer or whatever, but I have been talkign to the SKY bloke, and the phone line and broadband was only £21 which is half of mine and the thing is, that I can get the basic Sky HD package for about the same price as I am paying P.O now, for just teh broadband!

Its obvious that there is going to be some hidden stuff of course, but has anyone goen to SKY and are now annoyed they did it, or will it be a good idea to do?

Oh, and I fully intend on using my own Router too... Many reasons, but one being that I have finally bought a £200 router and there is no way that I am not going to use it.

Do you need the housephone?

If you unplug it, then you don't need call blocking :p.

If you use your own router, you'll need to use a software tool to get the username/password from the Sky router.

I've recently moved to Plusnet from BT. £0 a month for 12 months, one off line rental of £155 for the 12 months.

as much as I'm an advocate for sky plusnet does have a great deal at the mo. I will say though that if your exchange has not been enabled for 21cn plusnet speeds will be a lot lower than sky due adsl2+ offered by sky also sky do not traffic manage. Where fibre is concerned there would be minimal difference between any isp.

The simpler side of why, was that the monthly charge was £50+ and that the Sky ofer was £21

If I went for the Sky plus the HD package, they would be cheaper than just sticking with Post Office.

The service , I will assume, be the same as everyone else around the area and they all seem to be floating at the 10-14 speeds

and yes, I will be going to ADSL2+ BB, however, when our arse does have fibre, it will be fibre.

They are putting it in right now.

Thanks for the Offer MissCheif, but the guy who did me the deal also offered me a nice enough deal... Plus like a bummer that I am, I have also made him sign a load of my paperwork for a kicker too!

Ah, they have done it... Irritatingly, I have spent a small fortune building up a great MediaCentre PC and this thing looks like its doing a much better job!!!

Ah well.

Still on Post Office for the BB and waiting to get switched over and then I will need to get my name/Pass from the router to plop into mine.
