Gone off exploring, so far im 400ly away from where ive been doing a few missions, ive passed through 75+ systems and collected loads of exploration data along the way. Hoping to get 1000ly and over 250 systems before returning using a differant path. :)

One problem you'll find with railguns is the cost of ammunition, if you empty a pair of them it can end up costing like 30-40k to re-arm them all, which is obviously eating into the bounty payout,

Trial and error is the best way, the other day I was bounty hunting with a friend and he closed several anacondas with beam lasers and dumbfire missiles, and I closed a few with large pulse lasers only, depends on your style of play I guess, plenty of people kill them with lasers/multicannons too.

Thanks Screeexxxch, it's one of those things where you need to experiment I guess. I have done the level up the hard way - Sindewinder - Hauler - Cobra - Type 6 and I am just gearing myself up for either Bounty hunting to my millions or (more likely) slave trading at 150k profit each trip. Obviously one is more fun than the other though!

How do you find what system the weapons you want are? I'm sure there must be a way but I can't find it.

Hi Ellior - Google is probably the best way. You can check the system map to see if there is an outfitters but you can never tell exactly what the station has without visiting. High Tech, wealthy systems tend to have better gear but I have also found a single system on the cusp of Federal and Empire space which is isolated but still carries a full stock.

On the way to the Orion Nebula in my ASP at the moment. Hoping for some decent rewards when I get back, but I'm not really doing it for the money. After a week of trucking my 2200cr single system jump haul I was ready for a change and combat isn't really my thing. Currently over 500ly out at 95% condition so looking good at the moment.

Issue still there. PM sent to your hotmail account. Any help would be fantastic. My guess is that the cargo is showing up as 96 Palladium + 96 Consumer Tech which is > the max cargo limit of the asp I am flying as that was another load that went 'missing' last night.

Crowze - thanks a bunch, all sorted. Just wanted to say a public thank you.

How did you get the type 6 with that much cargo? Running without shields?

Never without shields! Some of my landings are 'heavy' to say the least! The Type 6 is not well fitted when you buy it. You need to move the two class 4 racks out of the class 5 slots and into the class 4 slots, the class 3 racks that were in those slots get binned. You buy two new class 5 racks to put in the class 5 slots.

The class 1 rack gets binned and replaced with a class 2, and finally the basic discovery scanner gets binned and replaced with a class 2 rack.

That gives you:
2 x 32 (class 5 racks)
2 x 16 (class 4 racks)
2 x 4 (class 2 racks)

For a total of 104. If you bin the class 3 shield, you can up it to 112.

I'm running a fuel scoop in one of the class 2 slots, which is why my total is 100. I'm thinking of replacing it though, as the profit from a few extra tons pays for the fuel, and it means that I don't have to waste time loitering around stars.

Been running an unshielded Python for a little while, just scratching the paint and still have 100% hull costs 20,000 to repair  Ended up putting a class 3 shield on it just to have a safety bubble. 2-3 jumps costs 60,000 so a fuel scoop helps too.

Yeah you definitely need a shield and fuel scoop for the python as running costs are prohibitive.

This is my current loadout for cargo and a bit of bounty hunting...

I want to get a size 6 shield, A rated power distribution and shield cell for dedicated combat. I love this ship.

Nice,

Also loving my Python, I had it rigged for bounty hunting last night, 3x large pulse lasers and 2x plasma accelerators (which i'd not bothered using before) murdered about 6 anacondas, numerous other pythons and about 150 other smaller ships,

it really is a monster, I think it would come into it's own with A power distribution a bigger reactor and beam lasers.. With my clipper I had 4x gimbled beam lasers, A6 power distribution and a similar reactor - it was a frightening thing, hard as nails too.

It has been very painless for me since owning it but if I got give billions in credits, I would want them removed, as I enjoy working to get them and it would kill the game for me.

Yeah I agree, like a lot of people i've been playing since beta/gamma and it's been a fun and interesting journey so far... I can't help thinking if that much money ended up in my account, i'd just buy an anaconda - play for 3 days then quit..

I've got to ask because I can't find this anywhere else: What is the blue and white plus icon in the top right of those modules for?

They really need to let you hyperdrive between suns in the same solar system. I've been making my way to Sol just for the hell of it, and realised just before I made the last jump in a leg that I only had fuel for one more jump. I ended up in 36 Ophiuchi, and the game dropped me beside Ophiuichi A. The nearest base was around Ophiuchi C, 0.11Ly or about 45 minutes of supercruise away. For some reason I lost connection to the servers three times (maybe thought I was idle?), so the whole thing took over an hour of twiddling my thumbs.

I'm guessing it'll be better if they ever get around to adding planet landings because there were always land cities around Ophiuchi A in Frontier: Elite 2, but even still I can't see why they can't allow you to either choose which star the hyperdrive drops you beside or let you do an in-system hyperdrive between suns in the same system.

(Or have I been an idiot and missed something...?)

Good question

Thread is now 231 pages long, great to see this game so popular :) Its an amazing game that will only get better as the devs add more content. Why no publisher would stump up the cash for it, I have no idea. Too busy churning out endless COD games I guess :(

The reason given by Braben was because there had been no games like this for many years, none of the publishers had any kind of sales data, and so would not risk money on an unknown. Of course as soon as they saw the preorders and kickstarter money, investors wanted to get their own slice of the pie, and I'm sure were falling over themselves to give FD some money - all in return for profits and ownership of the IP.

I hope Braben told them to take a long walk off a short pier. More money for FD.
