Hello I need your advice people. I live in a flat with an open front garden and I think my neighbour isn't picking up his dogs poop the disgusting person. It's a minefield outside my daughters bedroom, so I want to catch him in the act without breaking the bank!

I'm thinking an i.p camera on my daughters windowsill pointing where it happens, it mainly happens at nigh when we are asleep so some night vision would be good, but area is half lit anyway. So what's the best way to go about this and what software for recording? Thanks everyone

As a side effect wouldn't it then open your house to theives?

I know it sounds ridiculous but theres a house I used to live by that had CCTV and people were always showing more interest in that than the others.

CCTV sometimes makes people think you are trying to guard something worth stealing.

Have you tried talking to your neighbour about it?

I would at least take a day off annual leave and watch rather than invest in CCTV camera's. Also can you not close off your garden? It could be anyones dog or even cats if there is free access to it.

Otherwise I can't help with CCTV as I have nill exprience im afraid :)

I doubt it's cats, they're huge and plopped about all over the place. It's twchnically a communal shared front garden with no fencing so it could be just people walking by, but I've never seen the guy next door pick up dog poo he just lets his dog run wild, it's never seen during the day and he lets it out at night, I'm guessing so no one watches him. He's a disabled heroin addict but that's no excuse!

Any camera people here?

Who manages the flats?

Could you not give them a call? Most flats don't allow pets anyway so he could be breaking rules.

They have the same problem at a block of flats I do maintenance on.

Buy an air rifle and pick which you deem more suitable as a target.

Surely that will not only A: Be cheaper and B: Be fun.

Honestly though you might want to try asking the customer services here. They do sell some CCTV and im sure they can help you in what your asking for. In my experience they don't try and push things on you and will generally see if they can get something that fits you.

Otherwise the above post about asking your landlord (if you have one) about the issue is a good idea.

Also as its communal would that make it public property? If so the council need to be the ones to clean it up and of course the guy can get a hefty fine for it if caught not cleaning it up. I heard its around £1000 but that could very well be wrong information.
