NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Launch Date Revealed

The latest rumour suggests 3 cards being launched ( 3 different 960's).

Of course it is just a rumour, but hey it could even be a couple of 960's and a 990, you never know. ;)

would make more sense yeh
or even a 950ti that beats a 270
but im sure they know whats coming from amd alrdy

I think these endless variations allows them to cover other markets better, like Japan for instance where the demand for low power discretes is much higher supposedly. AMD release cards exclusive to regional markets (Japan, India) so maybe they won't all be for Europe/USA.

If they price them right then they can have a nice portion in the mid market which now AMD rules. I wouldn't look at anything smaller than a 970 now but if didnt have the money to spend, with a limit of 150 pounds i would have to go for something like this. Shame though that the normal 960 seems just a bit better than the 760. I can see the 965 very close to the 970 price wise if its like 30 pounds of a difference i think the 970 is the better option. Lets see though when they come out, nvidia every now and then might do the right thing, or might make things horrible (titan z)

It's Nvidia so it won't be well priced.

I may be in the minority but IMHO this price point is where the value is, I currently use an EVGA 660 SC and it runs everything I throw at it in either 1200 or 1080p and it isn't anything special in the Nvidia range.

I think for casual/moderate gamers both card makers have to nail this market because I wouldn't mind betting this is where they make the most of their money from, so potentially this card could be a winner for a lot of people, maybe not the vanilla 960 as it looks a bit underwhelming, but the 960/5 Ti or whatever it will be called looks spot on.

Yes a 970 isn't that much of a stretch if the Ti comes in at £180-200, but that is too big a stretch for marginal gains for most* people.

*most people being the ones like me who see mid range cards as top end budget.

In that you are right.

I recall when i was a student that my budget was 150 euros and had to buy the 8600gt and a few months later the 8800gt was priced at 180. Needless to say that i was banging my head because the 8600 was rubbish for the price compared to previous years of the similar price range and for not waiting but my pc died and had to fix because of UNI essays etc.

Definitely that price range market is a big market, especially now you can play full 1080p and 1200p games on the mid range GPUs (maybe not ultra settings on 1200p) and apparently the new trend is going mini and micro ATX and living room desktops etc. The race will keep going of course and i can't wait for the time when a single gpu will be able to push 60 fps on 4K. Even if it has to have 4 or 5 fans and be a meter long :D

I think the majority would agree with that, generally the mid range is the best VFM, the higher end is where they gouge most to people who want/need the top end.

I can see 965ti being £200 if not more though.

Yep 200-230 depending on how good the lower 2 perform. Unless they do a miracle and set the 960 to 110 which i dont see happening

Yeah I was probably out on the price a bit, but depending on it's performance it can't be priced too close to a 970, or maybe it will be on purpose to sell a boat load of them!

That is me- water cooled 4.5ghz overclocked 2500k, and a GTX 660 SC all in a dinky little Lian Li MITX case, barely gets warm, can barely hear it and it barely draws any power, the only reason I'm changing things around is to go even smaller, even quieter and even less power!

If they do a short/MITX version of the 960/5 Ti I will be golden.

I like my cards to be big! :D I am still on a crappy midi no name case which i put so many things in and everytime now i need to change something in it it is a stress course. I really need a Cosmos 2!

How would a 960 and its variants perform at 1440p? I've actually just ordered a 970 from OcUK as I couldn't be asked waiting any longer and gave in to the upgrade itch (from a GTX 570), just hope I don't regret my purchase :)

My most pessimistic predictions have been close before, so in the spirit of the thread, I'll have a guess at pricing :p

965 TI £250 (EVGA, etc).
960 TI £220
960 £195.

Looking at OcUK, the 970 is about £280 for the EVGA, etc. The reason they would use 965 TI as a brand name would be to imply performance similar to a 970, and hence the price will reflect that.

I don't think you'll be far off there. Maybe £20 less on each.

Saw this on Anandtech forums.
