Hi guys,

I'm planing to watercool my pair of Galax GTX 970 HOFs. One thing still stucks in my mind is that the PCB design, does the GTX 970 HOF share the same PCB design as the GTX 980 HOF? IE, can I use full cover waterblock of GTX 980 HOF for GTX 970 HOF?
I can not verify this information with the block maker as they don't have any GTX 970 sample to test at the moment. I have sent an email to Galax 3 weeks ago but it seems going nowhere. Hence I am here asking for your help.
Thank you to all.

Danny

been talking to Tim ** no competitor naming - thankyou ** I've ordered a block for my 980. and yeah they just need to get their hands on a 970 to get the prototypes ready. I don't think the 980 block will fit the 970.

forgot to say, I was going to get a custom block for my titan black and was going to send them my card but then decided to buy a 980 hof.
your card will be fine

Thanks a lot for your input. It seems the only way to make sure the block will fit in the GTX 970. :(

Is it a man in a shed making them?

Why doesn't he buy one? If it's a company it will go down as expenses.

We're actually not in a shed, it is a full blown workshop that gets used normally for other purposes but when people are not using the enormous CNC we use it. One of us is working there and has a higher end function. He is extremely skilled with the machinery and 3D design as it is his daily job. He has made multiple waterblocks in the past such as the one used in a Raspberry Pi competition named "wet Pi".

I can get into people not wanting to send us a gfx card just like that. We are indeed new to the crowd as a company but as two modders we've been around for wuite some time. I have two large buildlogs of projects on here as well and we both have multiple on another big modding forum I probably am not allowed to mention on here.

We do in fact wanted to testfit our block to the 970 first. But it seems they are so silly popular Galax didn't want to free one up. We did receive a 980 HOF retail and the block v2 fits perfectly.

I have personally been told by a Galax employee again today over video skype call that the 970 HOF and the 980 HOF do in fact use the exact same PCB apart from the GPU itself. So our 980 block should fit the 970 card 100%.

We are shipping 2 blocks to Galax themselves for approval this or next week. They will test it to pieces on both a 980 and a 970 and then say... AYE! And we will have their blessing. That is the plan how it goes in my head anyway.

So long story short; 980 and 970 PCBs are the same and the block fits both.

:)
