Well it's after Xmas and everyone has opened their pressies......did anyone get a driving experience?

I've done a couple of supercar experiences and always left feeling it was a bit naff but the missus has bought one for a company that do the drives on road using some nice cars by the looks of things?

What's your thoughts/experiences?

My Dad got me it one Christmas a few years ago, a Lambo experience I think it was. I kept forgetting about it until it was expired and too late to do anything with. I can't say I'm even that bothered to be honest. From other people's experiences it does sound pretty crap.

For £200 I had WAY more fun hooning my own car around Donnington than I would have done driving like miss daisy in a supercar.

A lot will depend on how far they will let you push it, I think some even have rev limiters, etc. not really something I've a lot of experience of but did a couple of corporate ones and twice drove GTRs with very different experiences - the second one the car was waaay more responsive and they were a bit more relaxed about pushing the car if you were basically competent.

The prices are insane for these! I got one for my birthday last year I was a little bit excited I must say. The Mrs paid for it we got there I did my time in the car and that was that.

He kept telling me too ease off, don't rev it too hard. I was gutted and so was my Mrs I felt bad she had wasted her money on it, I could have drove my Suzuki swift round faster and had more fun whilst doing so.

The only good thing is you can get a picture of you going round in a nice car, That's about the only positive I can think of

The wife did one in a Ferrari 360 at silverstone.

She said you could feel it was heavily restricted and was left really disappointed and that she would have been more excited if she had just had the chance to drive the cooper s round the track instead.

Did full day at palmersport 2 years back, you are encouraged to push, there's lots of runoff so if you gave an off its not a bad thing!

Don't bother with the experience days imho but the race days (at places like Palmer above) are well worth doing.

Regardless of whether I'd enjoy it it I would have done it to appreciate an expensive present off my parents.

Kids nowadays ;)

I got one but was like you so fed up of supercars on a track. The ticket also did a rally experience day! So I did that and liked it far more then supercar days. You get a full day rather then 4 laps at max limit of 4k rpm. And its something I have never done, with work/family I get to drive some "nice cars" Atom, Rapide, R8, DB9, Galardo, JLR cars

I have done a few and the only ones i thought we really worth it were the single seater experiences and also an intro to drifting course.

Ive done one of the mercedes benz world ones, ok I didnt technically drive a supercar but learning to power slide an E63 AMG on a skidpan was pretty good fun, they also teach you some other useful driving things and let you drive the car pretty hard. The instructors are really good too, they're there to teach you and not tell you to slow down or change gear early etc.

Pay for the privilege of driving someone else's expensive car slowly and responsibly around a track for 15 mins? Nope, not interested. I'd rather go go-carting, I could take take a group of friends for £200 and have allot more fun.

I did a 6 supercar day a few years back, Lambo, Ferrari, R8, Porsche 911, Aston and a GTR and it was about £400, 4-5 laps in each but it was literally straight line and one corner and you never really got the chance to open them up too much so it was decent but not spectacular. You got like 3 gears worth of power and thats it, nice to sit in that sort of car and drive it but very restricted.

However I won an 6x car SuperCar experience thru work and AMD to drive supercars thru the Cotswolds via http://www.dreamcarevents.com/ (who I have no association with) and that was epic.

Usual overview, dont drive like a total nob, its your life, your license sort of stuff and give you the keys.

Ferrari 458, GTR, Porsche 911, Lambo LP570, R8 and a Bentley GTC

As an experience it was perfect, open roads, there was scope for opening the car up etc. There was an acceptance speeding was going to happen but scope to use your own sense. Anything silly would able to be tracked by them. Seem to think the cost was £1500+ per person tho so its not cheap and unless your were 25+ it was a total no go in anything like the above.

The highlight being driving through Bourton on the Water, which is a pretty civilised tourist town in the Cotswolds in the V10 lambo shouting "Oi Oi ladies" at the talent. Childish but had to be done.

Id not bother with any supercar experience these days bar something like the above or a Palmer Sports day which ive never heard anything other than rave reviews about but I think they are fairly heavy money.

You gets what you pay for!
