Nope 3.5Mbps up 0.3Mbps down. Its hell!

We get the same speeds here, fiber isnt running to the house yet although theirs one on the other side of the road they wont run it to us. Anyone had anything like this and managed to get an ISP to run fiber to there property?

I have around 5mbit down, 0.35mbit up. It kinda just about holds up in that if I'm the only one using it then it can stream basic video, do browsing, gaming etc. However it is annoying that browsing slows down when downloading, plus everytime I switch on a console it seems to want to download stuff for at least an hour before I can play.

The slightly ironic thing is that I have always been an early adopter of faster connections and willing to pay if only they would be available:

1999: Paid extra for Home Highway (dual ISDN) when vast majority had modems, £40/month plus phone bills
2001: Early adopter of ADSL, back in the days when an engineer installation was mandatory, £45/month
2003: Early adopter of 2mbit ADSL, rebadged office product at £58/month
2006: Switched to ADSL Max 8mbit as soon as it was available
2006: Moved and got NTL cable, 10mbit (max available at the time)
2007: Switched over to ADSL2+, 13mbit
2008: Moved house and back to ADSL MAx @ 5mbit as per now

So basically, in 2015 I have a connection barely half the speed of that I had in 2006. I used to probably be in the top 10% for home connection speeds in the UK, now surely the bottom 25%. Can't be many that have suffered such a fall from grace.

68 down 18 up roughly. Truth be told if the 40/10 package with Plusnet was significantly cheaper I'd pick that over what I have, alas even over the medium term the faster package with cashback worked out a fair bit less.

I think our speed is currently about 120 down and about 12 up, it should be going up a tad tomorrow when I replace the current modem with a newer one...

150mb here we come :)

The fun thing is, I think we're paying less now (in real terms), than when I signed up for 512k, and had to pay £200 for the modem and about £50 for installation 15 years ago.

We never needed a modem when NTL installed 512k - was built in to the (ex C&W) Pace STB. The £50 got us some weatherproof CAT5 run up the side of the house - still working a treat 15+ years later.

I think the STB modems topped out at around 4MB IIRC.

Had my speed doubled at Christmas. Upload is now fast enough at ~4mb (for now).

Getting more than I pay for with download speed though 50mb line and getting 55mb speeds .

I have BT Infinity and my speeds are 74mb down, 13mb up.
For my needs - streaming to various devices, gaming and downloading - yes, this is perfectly adequate.
Does it mean that I wouldn't take a look as soon as a faster service is available in my neck of the woods? Certainly not. I'll take what I'm offered!

100mb+ Virgin media here, can't complain at all really as it's just me using the connection.

A bit faster would always be nice, as all my games & films I purchase digitally & the wait can be annoying (no matter how short it may be).

Nothing like quick enough for me/us. We live in a really rural location, which I love one one hand (no traffic, no noise etc), but hate on another (slow internet & no takeaways that deliver). I mean our village doesn't even have bloody gas and you can almost guarantee a power cut with any sort of high winds.

I get about 6mb download speed. It is hell in the evening if the kids want to play PS3, or you are trying to download a TV program from Sky.

Not sure when/if we are ever going to get 'high' speed fibre out here.

Relatively rural location and just got fibre. 38 down / 2 up last i tested. Much improved over the 6 down /1 up, but faster upload would be nice. I can get 76mb, but think I'm happy with the price/performance of what i have :)

It suffice's for my needs but I really want fibre so that I can get the best deals. Thankfully we will soon be able to get it as the first cabinet in the village has been done with the rest following over the coming months.

1.6MB/80KB/s :(

No fibre in my street. I can live with it as I'm not impatient and schedule heavy downloading through the night, but I wouldn't mind an upgrade!

I think our upgraded speed will do, for now.

The booklet with the instructions on how to setup the modem/router (with walkthroughs for people using wifi for the first time, in about 3 or 4 OS's) warned it might take an hour to activate the modem after ringing up the automated number.
It was done by the time the modem had booted :p (and it took far longer to sort the cabling out prior to ringing the number than to get it activated).

I get 5mb atm, the exchange I'm connected to is currently under review for the last 6 monthss. I was well happy at my last place, 20mb down.
