Thinking of spending the Easter break to Sweden on a mini road trip/adventure type weekend. I could get the Ferry to Stockholm, spend a couple of days driving around, camera in hand, visiting the scenery maybe spend some time in one of the main cities and then catch the ferry back.

Anyone done this? Anything to look out for? Any particular recommended sights to see?

TIA :)

I've been a few times for work and never got enough time in Stockholm bar a quick visit to the ice bar, etc. The old town is meant to be very nice to look around with some interesting museums and the 'Vasa' which is an old ship. It's expensive though, especially to eat out and drink in the Stockholm restaurants.

That's Scandinavia (and Finland) for you :p

Yep, I've heard they're expensive. Average wage there is nearly double the UK for a reason!

Same as McB, been there 3 times with work back in the mid/late 80's. I went twice to Vaxjo and once to Norrkoping. Sweden is a very clean country, covered in water/lakes. The people are lovely. Oh and yes, damn its expensive for us visitors to eat/drink out. Cant advise you where to visit as I didn't have time to go round looking at things due to the short overnight stops.

I'm off to visit my Brother in Umea in 8 days time, flying to Skellefteå from Stansted, then hopping on a bus for hour and half ride to Umea, never been and looking forward to it.

I've been to Stockholm. Really lovely looking city, very friendly people. The only negative thing I can say about the place is that everything is stupidly expensive (£7.50 to £9.50 a pint approx. and paid £3.50 for a 330ml can of sprite in a cafe).
