£949 Walkman : Sony

That's quite cheap for a top of the line media player, the Astell & Kern AK240 goes for over £2000

Ha yeah what a silly price. Anyone know the DACs it uses?

In other news I got my iBasso DX90 DAP delivered today.

These high priced (above £500) portable audio players are a joke. I have followed mp3 from the early days, and still own a portable mini disc player (mz-R909). It seems like a race to the top. Shure 846 (circa £900), Astell n Curd, iriver. Sony above all pushing the boundaries to see what the consumer will spend.

Story i read claimed this Sony walkman will increase the quality of your mp3s back to the hiDef quality it plays; this will impress the worlds audiophiles etc who have all been under the impression that the data lost from lossy codecs was gone forever. I wonder how Sony achieve this miracle.

Yeah I will stick to the z3 and 128GB SD card with Senn IE80s, the combined price of all of that leaves triple figures in change saved in your pocket too

I have to say that the SQ from a decent smartphone is actually great these days. And factor in that you always have it with you and it has great software + screen + storage.

So indeed RIP Walkman + High end DAPS. My DX90 is heading back to the retailer.

Problem with that though is some of them are shaped and like the size of a brick :(

Even if it could miraculously do that what would be the point if the out volume is so nobbled you wouldn't be able to hear it lol?
