FreeSync monitors hit mass production, coming in Jan-Feb

Maybe its the same with g sync not sure but the lg in the clip only has a 40 - 60 range which is very poor and something to be wary of with the new IPS panels coming out with both syncs.

How does Gsync work, can it be disabled while you still in game? Or must you close it down first and change in the drivers?

As Ian said above for the single player games I'll just lock to 143fps with freesync on and vsync off.

This possible issue seems panel driven on googling a bit more, could mean waiting for an IPS panel will lock you into the small fps windows and a TN still best for fast fps gaming, have to wait for some proper reviews on release I guess.

G sync and DSR works fine for me.

OK not sure what he means then.

dsr works fine with gsync,it's just the combo of gsync,Dsr and Sli that doesn't work.you have to disable one of your Gpu's and the Dsr option returns.A fix is allegedly in the pipeline......though that pipeline has been quite a few months now :(

It is amazing the people that think freesync is worth getting now, but when it was just Gsync available it was something they would never be interested in. I suppose it keeps me amused if nothing else.

I think 21:9 is a disgusting format for gaming and would never, ever, ever use it myself :D

Yer, I must admit that ultra widescreen doesn't appeal to me and the main gaming area of Elite Dangerous would make the game seriously look like I was actually playing it looking through a letterbox. I am sure that isn't the case but I am now wanting to go big big 4K, as in 40"

Freesync makes sense to get now. When you coming from where I am atm. 1080p 120hz, now couldn't be a better time to upgrade..

If Freesync turns out to be something I don't like, least I still upgraded to 1440p and 144hz.

Perfect timing.

4K FreeSync is what i need. Even with four 290X 8gb cards you do get the odd occasion in very demanding titles where fps dips below 60, so FreeSync will be crucial in allowing me a smooth, tear & stutter free gaming experience at maximum settings.

You can just tab out and disable it or window the game, least that's all I do. Not many cases where you need to do this though. It just works.

Since I tried Gsync I always thought it was worth it, I presumed the same for Freesync for when it became available. Lets be honest, it was sour grapes..

From what ive seen about freesync so far, it is all going to depend on the monitor, the top end ones will have a good range, and the bottom end ones will only have a tight range that works.
Of course it all depends on the price and you can guarantee that the decent panels with good ranges will be horrendously priced as premium gaming panels already are..

Not really, to be honest I don't know if I will like this tech.. I have always been against locking the frame rate of any game. Not just because of stutter or higher input lag but because of also hit reg also.

When I play with a frame rate locked or capped or sync I can tell the difference between them all.
If Freesync can make my games feel the same as sync off then am sold.

Pretty sure most of the complaints were about it costing £100 extra or so (on the panel that it was announced with) and proprietary.

neither of which are issues with adaptive sync so far. It wasn't the tech itself but the implementation that people didnt like.

When you say "implementation", this is a little misleading, as G-Sync is only compatible with a set GPU, as is Freesync, so when people say things like that, I am not sure that is fair. I am not clued up enough to know if any of the AMD GPUs could run G-Sync and Adaptive Sync is an open standard that was done by VESA.

Freesync/G-Sync is a tech that is very useful to people like me who have a massive disdain for tearing and stutter and I am very susceptible to seeing either. I paid a premium for being an early adopter, of which I have zero regret and would do it again. I do hope it works well for those that grab it.

There was nothing wrong with the post you quoted, nothing misleading about it. I mean what's misleading about it? He makes some accurate points while not being pro or negative to a vendor (Although, I don't think we should be talking price comparisons yet until probably the second half of this year)

Freesync is AMD's proprietary method of using adaptive sync to put it basicaly.
Nvidia if they adopted Adaptive sync would make their own proprietary method, as would Intel.
