Why hasn't Japan banned child-porn comics?

So when are we having HMV shutdown, and Waterstones .... maybe Amazon?

... all of them sell anime and manga which the majority of posters in this thread seem to have decided is all kiddie porn ... despite the ****ing original article indicating that only a small amount of the Japanese market would come fall under that (and that not being stuff that would be licensed for release over here for obvious reasons) and the BBFC having to rate the anime releases before they are published.

Oh wait, could it be that they haven't bothered to actual read the article properly and just wanted to jump on the bandwagon in the usual cretinous GD style (and thus remain ignorant of the bigger, in my opinion, issue mentioned in the last section of the article which is not about manga at all and instead is about actual kiddie porn).

It's pretty dubious dude :p

Tbh I agree, I'm incredulous at some of the admissions I've read in a variety of anime threads, it might even be an innocuous meeting place for them, the anime threads of the web I mean, a place to get to know each other in their secret perversion.

Its them dam pixels I tell you! :p

All I know is men from Japan have a minecraft penis, just one of them things each to there own! :D

possibly a little too much for on here

Perfectly legal. Normal, healthy interest for young (middle age) men ? :P

Magnolia where are you in my hour of need. :(

I like the little embarrassment lines under her eyes making it all that more submissive, don't you think pervs?

It's obvious something sinister is going on. I dont mind young characters to do their thing in some crazy fantasy story but why do we have to see her knickers, why all the sexual connotations. It's not right you are messed up in the head if you think portraying children like this is ok. I would be extremely happy if they stopped with all the sexually suggestive elements in Manga and Anime and ban Hentai completely. Then yes you can have your cartoon.

All aboard!

That actually makes me smile.

It reminds me of the old large gauge model (working steam) trains you used to get at fetes and the like (this sort of thing), we used to live near a narrow gauge railway where they restored steam loco's and every summer they'd have special events where in addition to riding the actual narrow gauge trains, they'd have all sorts of models, including working steam RC boats, and a ride on railways track, which used to be great fun for us kids.
I suspect that is what that is meant to be, a girl riding the overhead train like kids ride the working steam 10 1/4" trains, probably advertising a model store.

In many ways no different to the sort of large cartoon characters that used to be very common fast food outlets in the states, just the Japanese version.

It's not my cup of tea and whilst it doesn't make me uncomfortable, it also isn't something I would find interesting at all.

However, Japan is a completely different culture with a different attitude to this sort of thing, so to me it's not really an issue. It's been classified as acceptable. Whether this is right or not, I don't know, I can see why the more uptight people would find it offensive, and I Can understand why the more liberal find it inoffensive.

To me I am indifferent to it - banning things starts to make me a little uncomfortable when there is no direct cause/effect that this is a bad thing.

Anime collector by any chance?

Was just about to post something similar... Although out of preference I would rather not see it.

I find the whole thing rather disturbing and cringe worthy tbh.

It's like taking the "next best thing" if you're into kiddie porn that's inside the law.

Er......

Please tell me that's because you believe free speech to be paramount or somenonsense, not due to an interest in the source material lol.

I should imagine that most people defending it are doing so for ideological reasons rather than due to their particular fetish.

Personally, I'm against onerous laws; those which restrict some aspect of freedom in a way not balanced out by the protection it offers. I see the banning of this sort of material (which, admittedly, I've not actually seen - at least, not anything beyond the levels of IronWarrior's posts (which are UK-legal, apparently)) as being based upon a fallacious argument.

That said, I wouldn't knowingly leave my children in the care of someone who was into this stuff. I don't believe that it's a gateway drug to actual paedophillia (in that it's not a cause of someone committing such), but I wouldn't rule out a link between those with paedo tendencies and liking the material.

Basically, I can accept the possibility that those who like this stuff might be more likely to be a kiddy fiddler than those who don't, but I don't accept that the material increases the chances of an individual causing such harm.

I hate any anime/manga that is overly sexualised. There just isn't any need :/
Even the intense gore that they show puts me off.

Berserk is my limit of what I'd read for a manga. Luckily that's not overly sexualised, but it can be quite graphic in regards to gore

That is actually a good idea.

Legalize all the anime kiddie porn and anyone who buys it can be openly identified as weird people instead of having to rely on your gut.
