BF4 - GTX 970 - FPS Drop (Drivers/Bug?)

Whilst playing Battlefield 4 (Multiplayer) This has happened to me on several occasions now.

The game becomes unplayable with a constant FPS drop between 5-10 ALT Tab in and out sorts this for 2/3 seconds then same happens against a constant FPS of between 5-10.

Is this a known bug within the game or 970 GTX latest drivers?

Has anyone experienced similar behaviour?

Running a 4690k, MSI GTX 970 (AT Stock no OC) 850W PSU and 8GB of Ram (Not running out of memory) and the game is installed on an SSD, just wanting to provide as much as possible hardware info to rule out that.

Not a major issue, as it is quite rare but it's more wanting an answer to the issue.

Not sure if this is posted in the correct place, feel free to move where you see fit.

mine even worse than your case, sometimes it freezes the screen, other app such as spotify and Skype still working normally only the BF4 stopped. But not very often, happened to me 2 or 3 times during last month so I am not sure which causes the problem yet.

That's bizarre, having played BF4 on realase on an Xbox One I was aware of the many bugs, but if what myself and you are experiencing is a known bug I'd have thought it would have already been ironed out.

Keep check on this post, hopefully someone will have some knowledge about our issues.

It had a memory leak under mantle on AMD cards, but I believe this was fixed a good while ago.

I used to get this on my old system when the cpu got maxed out briefly. Doubt that would happen with your 4690 unless you have a lot of background processes running?

Nah, it was literally a fresh boot then jumped onto BF4.

Guessing it's driver related due to running at over 100 FPS 90% of the time on Ultra.

Will look into the other advise. Thanks

Temps?

I had a few issues with this and was wondering what the hell was going on. Found out my card was getting stupidly hot. high 70s early 80s and the FPS just dropped. I did a combination of things. Put a custom fan profile on and changed my settings to 60hz, now it plays flawlessly at 60 fps and the temperature never goes over 60. Even less if I have the window open..

Same problem here, game runs flawlessly with ultra settings at around 80-90 FPS. Every 2 minutes or so the FPS plummets to around 20-30 for a few seconds then jumps back up again. Doing my head in!

Rig: i7 4710, 16GB ram, GTX 980m w/8GB, Samsung 840 SSD.

Latest drivers installed, dx up to date and unparked cores. Nothing seems to make it better.

Origin ingame overlay causes issues with multiple games, disable it if you have it on.Caused me no end of issues with Tiantfall on my 970

I got a similar thing running fraps, the FPS overlay used to give me drops too and the only thing that stopped it was an ALT-TAB also

This, should have said in my previous post. I've done this and not had the problems since.
