Well I think that's enough for one day. After 2 days of playing, I have a reasonably well upgraded Hauler capable of lugging 16 units of cargo at a time. I also have 200K credits :D

The next goal will be to get a Cobra and deck it out with some good gear, then use that to finally tackle those Federation missions that have been holding back my rank progression.

Fully sorted Cobra will set you back around 9 mill but 3 is enough

2x Gimballed mark 2 beams set you back a million
2x Gimballed mark 1 chainguns cheap as chips
A rated mark 4 power plant

then spend rest on thrusters shields and shield cells

Chainguns? Me being a noob but i can`t see `em unless your referring to another type...or they don`t stock `em where i`m docked? (Leesti) :D

Folks Ive downloaded the voicepack and voice attack.

However some of the default voice commands don't execute the respective action, e.g. when I say retract landing gear, it acknowledges the command but doesn't do it.

Any idea why this maybe?

Your voicepack may be an outdated version which worked for the Gamma and Beta versions of the game but not for the release version. Many of the key commands changed over time.

Check if the 'key press' for each comand in Voice Attack reflects the key in the game.

It might be that the voice pack has bound the incorrect key to landing gear. Edit the profile to find the binding that is mapped to it and change it to the correct value?

That's the only thing i can think of.

Holy crap there must be hundreds, that's gonna take forever!

Some of them do not have press key, but they are labelled like this, for example:

"Execute command '((Landing Gear))' and wait etc....

Not sure what that means exactly and whether ((Landing Gear redirects to the correct key or something?)

Has the faction ratings for bounty hunting / pirating been adjusted?
I got sick of going instantly kill-on-sight with the local and regional faction and haven't played since before Christmas as I was totally put off this game by getting constantly persecuted by security forces

Hi guys
As an early backer I have some special rewards. I am about to start playing elite soon, but I have no idea where to start. I missed all the betas, so consider myself a complete rookie.

Kickstarter Special:
1. Have the option to start in the founder's world with any starter ship and 4,000 CR. Note: any Kickstarter decal-carrier will be able to travel to this secret system in gameplay.
2. Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
3. Independent Trader: Have the option to start in the Lave system with a basic Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.
4. Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
5. Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
6. Imperial Bounty Hunter: Have the option to start in an Imperial Colony with an Imperial Eagle Mk II Fighter with upgraded weapons and shields and 1,000 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons).

I am not into pirating and bounty hunting as a rookie, so option 4 and 6 is out of the question. How about the others, what are the pros and cons? Which one did you choose?

I'm enjoying the Conflicts and with the better match-making after today's patch seeing other real players in conflicts is great, even if they are fighting for the other faction.

Something I didn't know until yesterday was picking a Faction (side) when you drop into a Conflict zone is done in the Right Panel (4) and in the last Tab. Look for Faction, then choose a side. That way you can collect the 3,000cr combat bonds when killing an opposing faction ship.

The High Intensity Conflicts are very intense, especially when the cruisers drop out of warp :)

Have you seen note 4 in the new patch notes? Local security forces are now pretty much unlikely to suddenly attack you

When deciding if we should go hostile to a faction we just shot, consider whether the target has a local bounty rather than a bounty with their own faction. Prevent people being attacked by the police after attack nearby wanted targets

Option 4 seemed like a no brainer to me- go to the station where your free Eagle is stored, sell it, pay off bounty, end up with a decent Cobra capable of pretty much any role...

I've got one and it is a decent stick.

Spend some time choosing the button combinations that work best for you. There are default settings in the game but it's worth fiddling around with them.

Apparently you can use one of the buttons as a 'shift' key which doubles the amount of button commands. I've not used this so can't comment on how effective it is.

Put some blu-tac under the stick/throttle to stop them sliding around, and once you've got the buttons set up to your liking then it's really very intuitive and simple to use.

And if you have a microphone then get the 'Voice Attack' software which lets you speak commands. This massivley adds to the game and costs less than £5 (I think).

It really is a good stick though - more expensive sticks might have more buttons but I'm really pleased with the HOTAS X in the months I've been using it.

Thanks for the reply.

From the feedback and reviews I've seen all have said that it's great value for money, I'm looking forward to giving it a go. I'll spend some time in training mode to try and get the set-up right for me. I had to tweak the keyboard default a little, especially on the mouse where I got rid of the roll and have these on the 'A' & 'D' keys. Before doing that I was all over the place when moving the mouse! :D

Thanks for the heads up regarding the 'Shift' key, very useful to know.

I'll also have a look at the 'Voice Attack' especially if it's only a fiver, should work well with my pair of Hyper X I got over Christmas. Are you referring to this: -

Elite Voice Attack

I got an email today asking me to double check delivery info for the Kickstarter boxed version, so hopefully it'll not be too long before the physical version is out. If you ordered a physical version ages ago it might be worth making sure your details are right.

Cheers, I was only wondering about this last night, especially regarding T-Shirt sizes. Have now selected size and confirmed delivery address for boxed version.

Regards

Having last played during the Beta I finally got back into the game this week. Feels a lot different from the Beta and feeling quite lost as I'm light years from the Beta start point I was familiar with. But, enjoying it so far, just need my X55 to stop it's phantom button presses(fixed last time by using USB port on main board but not working this time, hopefully sort it out over weekend).

Can we sell stored ships? Don't want the cobra, would prefer to upgrade the Eagle.

Went through all the training and restarted :)

Dropped off a short cargo drop, then hunted for a black box for a fair while and killed a bounty while i was at it! Getting the hang of it now.

Not tried mining yet? Or does that come later

What tends to be the best thing to aim for first in terms of upgrades? And for practice sake, i did it on solo so may switch to online tonight

Noticed something very strange last night,

Was bounty hunting with a friend at an Anarchy nav beacon, nearly all the NPCs were displaying multiple skill levels, some of them were showing as harmless to me, but expert/deadly to my friend.. Any ship that was showing as harmless to me but higher ranked to my friend, seemed to be carrying a high bounty (say 30k for a viper) and paid out regardless of who killed it.

Seemed very strange..

I got my Hotas-X last week and love it. I use https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71532 as my mappings, seems to work pretty well for me.
